  1. Love these purple E34's

Seen your old one around chch and in the carpark at ruapuna a couple times Simon..still wearing it's purple well!

Very strong likely hood thats my one since I do a lot of racing out there and helping out, actually put it the drags at the last speed event, but was a dissapointing result due to no traction, or total bog due to trc.

I usually thrash a certain yellow DX around ruapuna, street sprints and hillclimbs etc

  2. Very nice

Good wheel choice too Logan. Reminds me of something ;)

What can I say about the wheels? They just look "right", and yes I did see them on your car and think, "that'll do", plus I like the fact they they are a factory wheel from the right era.

Great photo of yours! Its dam low! Don't think I will lower mine further, but probably fit some bilstiens in the not to distance future. Next bit of maintenance is to fit the 3.15LSD on its way this week.

I understand your old car made it down to chch, but I haven't seen it around?

  3. A quick car wash yesterday turned into a marathon may as well do this little bit with the clay bar to a full clay bar, clean, glaze, wax etc. All and all it came up pretty well for an old car.

  4. Hi All,

Look for options to get some sounds from iphone to factory head unit.

    Some quick reserach has found the following options, just wondering pros/cons of each and if there is anything available locally;

    1. Fm Modulator

Basically I ahve an iTrip and the Sound quality is rubbish, so not that interested, however would one of something like the following been any better?

    Bestbuy isimple fm modulator

    2. Take factory RDS headunit apart and do the tape mod. Details on this was abit sketchy, but something about installing a cable so can use TAPE as aux in. Once again dubious SQ maybe?

    3. CD stacker aux in mod. Once again details sketchy but something to do with extracting the line in wires and leaving the rest connected, then having a dummy cd in place? Sound quality is supposed to be excellent.

    3b. Install something like this beside the stacker in the boot rather than running a cable, however its expensive, and I just want a very simple version of this;

What other ideas recommendations do the gurus have?

    Cheers

  5. that what i meant

I think its a fair price also. Mine with now has 103k's on it, I had it valued for insurance purposes etc by grays at 17k. Its just as tidy as this one, if not slightly tidier. In reality its still an old car and the price is purely dependent on collectible status and desirability's. Anything around 10k is a good price.

Also of note is its only the second 540is I have seen with those mags, which are the same as mine, and they just look small and silly, hence why I am yet another rocking the 18" staggered m-pars...

    Cheers

  6. Make sure the actual tail light bulbs are identical (I always replaced bulbs as pairs, cos i theorized if one had gone the other was due)and that the tail light contacts /holders are nice and clean ,and free up the hinge wires again.

I just replaced all the bulbs with new identical ones, and it lasted all of about 3s before "ding".

I noticed when I took them out that they were pretty hot to touch....

    Wiggled wiring again.

    No Results

  7. Bah the dreaded tail light warning message has returned!!! arghhhh.

I recently had a brake light failure, which it correctly detected, and for a short time afterwards there was no messages, now its back again!

Which lights are sensed by the "tail light" circuit? Would it be worth replacing all the bulbs?

To recap I have unplug my head light dip motors when I first tried to solve this problem!

    suggestions?

    Thanks

  8. arn't e34's great 265 tyres in the rear with out any mods.

had similer size on my old alpina kited up one , but it had 255 on the rear on 10" rims which looked a bit pinched in , should have had 265

Cool! Thats some big tyres alright. I have picked up some m pars and strangley pretty much making it look like a twin to your 540is!

Mags came with two 245/45/18's which are too tall to use, so looking at what tyres to get. I noticed that the factory e34 mpars where fitted with 245x40x18's all round, so was thinking to just get them all round, but staggering the wheels may be an option now knowing bigger fits on the rear.

Do you think 245's will be alight on the front?

Good luck with the sale, have you had much genuine interest?
