  1. did you visit AMI in office or over the phone? you will get two different experiences with their service.

So far just an online quote. Typed in a few details, came back almost straight away rejected. I need to do some ringing around at least. Though I just don't understand how it can be such a hassle insuring an E30. There's a few of them in NZ.

  2. Tower - when I checked - they were nowhere near the ball park with any policies for me.

Raewyn, seems strange what have I missed? Have you had a claim? How long have you had a policy?

Have you checked third party, fire/theft as an option?

I'm a bit miffed by it all. I honestly thought I was doing the right thing by advising State. I wouldn't of minded paying extra in my premium for my mag wheels to be covered.

Only claim I've ever made is a windscreen chip to be repaired. I had an accident about 5 years ago, but that's history.

Had a policy with State for about a year.

Thought about third party, fire & theft, but I would rather have full cover just in case something happens. I couldn't do with out a car.

Not many extreme mods done on my car as seen on my project thread

I don't really want to have to cut off my arm to pay for my insurances either...

  3. State is a swear word for me... long memory - I was shafted by them way back when I was a teenager at home & in my dads car. A minor incident but told I was not subsequently going to be covered driving any of the family members cars - yep all with State (along with all other insurances). Old man then told them to cancel all policies

I/we have always been with AMI, & when I last did a comparison - AMI were still the most competitive I found - over all policies. AA stacked up as next best.

Thanks, unfortunately AMI will not cover my vehicle due to the modifications. Not that there are many real major ones.

My flatmate is giving me details of her broker, so I may see how I can get on through them.

Didn't realise it would be such a hassle with a car like mine any ways!

  5. germanplates do nz font/stickered euro plates if you wanted to know a good place to get em from.

Thanks I've placed an order with Andy for some! Looking forward to receiving those. In the meanwhile, I have gotten rid of the twin 12" subs in the boot to free up some boot space, and installed a 12" Sony Slimline sub/box instead. I can actually see my boot now and it sounds pretty great!

  6. ^_^

So next I've decided to do some touch ups. The right front guard and drivers door clear coat is coming off pretty bad.. So going to get that fixed up. The bumper has a big chunk out of it from before I got it.. so getting that done!

Then from there I will decide!

  7. Mtec II kit would finish it off nicely :)

BTW, Much as I do like shadow chrome, this car is suited as it is with chrome IMO

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of that.. also might look at getting a Mtec II Steering Wheel. Though there is a Mtec I steering wheel on Trade Me for $150 that looks alright.

See what this year brings B)

  8. This could be completely unrelated, however a similar thing happened to my E30. It would run fine, but after turned off for several hours, had to be jumped started. Would go for a long run to charge the battery, but would still go flat. For my car, it turned out to be a really crappy battery.

I replaced the battery and no problems since.

I thought it was odd too, as it just started happening out of the blue - no warning signs or anything..

    Hope this helps...

  9. saw this today, looked quite good. how do you like the manual vs auto? completely differant car?

Thanks :) Where did you see it? Far better being a manual for sure. Completely different car now, feels quicker off the mark, and great fun too.

Just got some 15" BBS rims, yet to put them on though...
