I think they should be legal, but that said I would not get them. I can't imagine that the beam pattern will be as good as the stock Bosch ellipsoids we have on our car. The guys in the US get shitty plastic ones and would kill for our Boschs. Same can be said for fitment; OEM is the best. Lastly, they just look ugly. Perhaps you could cable tie the corner indicator somehow? Or, DIY it and epoxy a piece of plastic in place of the broken clip on the headlight to replicate the original rail. I know what you mean, I've got a set of lights with the broken plastic rail as well. You definitely need to replace the whole headlight for that plastic rail.

Hmm. That's possible. Some others did mention that it was missing the rego/WOF sticker Having said that, it's been seen on Queen Street a couple of times, and also in Papakura, Mangere... places in South Auckland. So it sounds like it's a car being used daily.

Which workshop is this? If it's in Auckland I may be interested. Would appreciate it if you could shoot me a PM about the price. Cheers

OBC Display showing false reading post instalation of new taillights
Yuen replied to MattSB's topic in Maintenance
I had that happen before but it was due to contacts. The contact was not too good between the bulb holder and the light housing (the metal circle ring bit) so when the car moved around it sometimes made it lose contact. You can use some ghetto fixes to fix that, what I did was stuff a little piece of cardboard behind the metal ring on the light to make it push forwards a bit. Also, I've heard that some bulbs that are on their way out will cause this error. If you have a new bulb you can experiment. Something to do with the filament and how the computer uses resistance to determine if the bulb is 'there or not'. -
If it doesn't look like the A5S310Z, maybe it's the A5S300J? Which, if it is, that's my transmission, and I want to do a fluid change but am told only 'ApolloOil ATF DIII' will work. Dexron III for sure, but I know not all transmission fluids are the same, they say you can only get it from Japan or South Africa

Did you mean the 'tail light failure' error? It happens with OEM tails when the replacement tails do not have as many pins as the previous tails. Usually the new ones have 7 pins when they should have 8. I would assume it's the same sort of problem for aftermarket tails, that the tail lights you got were meant for a non-OBC E36 (ie: 318). -
Congrats on the purchase, love that car, still looks new! Can't believe you've owned two E46 M3s already. I think I saw your second one on TradeMe sometime ago, the suspension was for sale I believe. What caught my eye was the lip on the front bumper, what lip is that?

Thanks I think it's their car too, because if it was stolen they probably wouldn't have bothered swapping the plates. You could also guess that it's theirs from the bad taste in 'mods' I'd prefer to settle the score the legal way

Cheers guys, a guy from another forum pointed out that in one of the pics (coming off the ramp) you can see a guy in the backseat lighting up a ciggy too. The BBS RC's have very little rash on the edges, there is some, but they are very clean, the insides of the rim you can see some faint scratch marks, like the person who cleaned them used a pretty stiff brush. The main distinguishing features though, would be the centrecaps. They are scratched pretty badly on at least 1 of them, on the BBS cap part (check out the pics to see what I mean).

Cheers mate Bit of an update, got more pics! I still can't tell exactly which model Evo it is (1/2/3), but some of you may be able to. Those wheels look familiar, but I'm unable to come up with the brand/model, anyone know? Car looks to be black, and those bonnet vents are white for sure, you can see in the animated GIF below. There are at least 2 people in the car, maybe 3, can't really make out if that's a 3rd person in the rear. Animated GIF of the above pictures: Animated GIF of white bonnet vents:

Thanks for that Chris, I've also posted a thread on ChosenFew. Much appreciated Help me keep an eye out for that car! I'll see if I can get more pictures from the building manager, if they have a copy of the video it would be great, I hope the police haven't taken the only copy.

Doubt it's an Evo IV, don't they have the big spotlights in the front bumper? Thanks

Haha, how'd you know I have Type IIIs? I've considered selling them, but they just look too nice on the car. Thinking of getting them refurbished and powdercoated

Hey everyone, My car got broken into early this morning along with 2 other cars, around 4:18am, in my apartment carpark in Auckland City. The offending car was caught on surveillance camera, and it looks like it's a Mitsubishi Lancer. The licence plate didn't help at all, as according to the police, the thieves took it off a car sitting in a car dealer lot in South Auckland. Does anyone know what model it is (Evo 1/2/3?), and of course if anyone knows who owns that exact car, that would be the best! Those chrome wheels are pretty unique too. I would also appreciate it if everyone could keep an eye out for those wheels. Stuff that got stolen: 1. 4 x BBS RC304 17"x8" wheels, 5x120, ET38. They were still in boxes, ready to be taken to get mounted onto the car. 2. Some car detailing stuff such as Meguiar's wax, clay bar, carpet cleaner etc. Pics as follows: Thieves' Car: Cheers everyone.

Welcome My E36 320i gets ~400km on a full tank, but that's with relatively heavy 17"s. With the stock 15"s I think I can get 480km. Mine's 1992 so it's non-VANOS, not sure if VANOS has better fuel economy.

Sorry to hear man, hope everything gets fixed soon, and good luck on your claim from the council.

Good choice That's my favourite spoiler as well. IIRC The M3 GT wing is slightly different to the M3 LTW wing, which is the term more commonly used. Hamann also makes that style of spoiler for E36 sedans, I would think they make it for the coupe also. On SD European's site they have a picture of the LTW spoiler on an E36 coupe, maybe you want to try emailing them? If you want the risers (the blocks to bring the wing to full height), very few replica wings have those, the risers would either be fake or the whole wing would come as one piece (high/low). The genuine LTW wing with risers costs too much though (goes for ~$1000USD).

Have you tried cleaning the idle control valve?

Saw it earlier today, that's a huge boost in the price Conrad! Interesting to see how high it will go... someone snag this for their E30!

Try www.forums.bimmerforums.com, I'm sure you'll find lots of information there as many people have done it.

--> QUOTE(John B @ Jul 31 2006, 12:39 AM) 88640[/snapback] What does it mean to, "sticky this thread....and many go to guys in this thread" ? I think he meant many thanks to the guys in this thread On the subject of Japanese BMWs, my car is a 1992 E36 320i imported from Japan. Everything is great, there are the typical problems for E36s of its age but nothing that I would single out against Japanese imports. The only gripe I have is that my car uses a Jatco transmission and these transmissions were only put on BMWs in Japan, I suppose for cost purposes, and the rest of the world got ZF or GM ones which are widely available. For a DIYer this can be quite frustrating as there is next to no information available on it, it even says that the 'lifetime transmission fluid' which most people change on their BMWs has to be ApolloOil ATF and has to be ordered from Japan or South Africa.

E46 & E36 can use the same wheels - I think their offsets are very similar, if not identical. They were genuine Alpinas, I saw close up photos of the centre - they had the Alpina stamp. Not bad, with a lip they'd be real nice. I think they're quite heavy though.
-
Mine? Hell no, no cheap one piece lights for me! Arctic Grey E36 here It's possible to dremel down the nipples, but it might not look that great unless you cover it up with eyelids.
-
They're interchangeable among all E36s. Some people actually prefer the non-dimpled to the dimpled 'facelift' ones as it's easier to mount eyelids without the dimples.
