thanks for the reply! out of interest why could the 318is be worth more in the future?

Hi Was interested in some feedback! I have a E30 325i 5spd coupe, which I have been working hard on for the last two years (on & off) but it needs to be re complied thanks to the last owner! Now I have just purchased a 90 E30 318is 5spd coupe which I got for a good price and originally bought for parts for my 325 it needs some work but nothing a bit of elbow grease cant fix! but this one the rego is on hold and just needs a wof. Im wondering which one would be the one to keep and from a cost perspective! I have spent so much time on the 325 its a hard decision. do I swap everything over from the 325 to 318is or vice versa obviously the 325 engine I want!!! thanks for any help/guidance.

Hi im hoping someone might be able to help me I have just purchased anonther e30318is, so you know part of the price was because the last owner couldnt start it? When I got it home I noticed the petrol gauge was below the light so the first thing i did was stuck 1o bucks of petrol in. then I have checked the plugs. they do need replacing however they were dry aprt from number 4 was slightly wet? I have also cleaned the air cleaner out? I have also stuck a new battery on it does sound like its got good compression. could it just be starved of petrol as the last owner had run it dry and has been stud since new years? thanks for any help.

Sorry I dont get what you mean by draining empty?
-
thanks for your replies, yes I filled it myself as when I got it back from the shop the box was empty! I will also check the breather and the fill hole! (Is the breather at the bottom I see a little hole/indent at the bottom where is leaking out of?) thanks.

I really hope that I have the same problem it might just be over full! I did the same I filled it before i put it in trying to save time!!!!!! Did yours drip for long? sorry for the daft question Im asking because when i saw it leaking I turned the car of straight away.

no its definetly gear oil as I got the container with the gear oil in it and it smells and looks the same!
-
it happened after I started the car I have nt even driven yet as it is still on axles, the oil that came out was gear oil not motor oil could this still be the sump gasket?
-
Not another thing wrong! I have recently got my gearbox back from the gearbox place, i have put it all back in finally went to start the car and when I looked underneath I found oil leaking from around the gearbox where it meets up with the flywheel! does this mean that the front seal has not been done or please tell me it could just be an overflow(which I doubt) any help would be great, one day I ll get this car on the road! thanks.

thanks for your replies , I have checked every hose and every bolt before I went ahead and changed both the m/c and slave. the M/c was leaking all over the floor and the slave seal was all split before I took the gearbox out so rather than getting a seal kit i purchased a new one then I know have covered all areas. I agree with what someone said may be the bleeding process is messed up I think I need get a new bleed pilot to sit in the car. cos my mate was a bt crap did nt want to tell him!! I did notice a little bit of air going back when he released the pedal. I'll try again next weekend!

Hi all sorry for another question about bleeding the slave!!! I am having a problem getting my pedal back I replaced my clutch mastercylinder late last year was fine! then recently I filled up at the station when i went to start it back I had no pedal? so towed it home tried to bleed the slave nothing really was happening, so I have just replaced the slave with a new one. and there was lots of air bubbles with fluid coming through but I was bleeding with a helper for 1.5 hours and still no pedal!!!! can anyone help to see where I have gone wrong! thanks.

I can see two wires inside the black insulation a black and a brown and the brown one has actually split probably due to old age!! so I was thinking of cutting and re joining then using that heat shrink stuff? to make it look neat!

Evening hopefully someone is logged in who can help me ! I have an 89 e30 325i coupe and on my passenger side the wire that links to my brake wear sensor has fraded and looks like it needs replacing? but when I traced th wire it looks like it feeds into the fuse box lume? does it need replacing or is there another way to fix it that will still be safe? thanks.

thanks for your replies no it was brought out as one piece! and installed back the same way, so thats means I dont have to worry to much? thanks for making my night lol!
-
I had to have my gear box recond, so my mate helped me takeout the drive shaft. Now I have re installed the gearbox I have re installed the drive shaft but because my mate took it out without scribing or marking a point as it says in the owners manual! I was wondering if it would still be ok to start up without damaging anything? thanks guys.

might sound like a silly question but thought id see what feedback i would get back! I have a 89 e30 325 5spd coupe (yet to be complied) and the misus now wants to sell the 318is which is auto but is wofd n regstd! now ive polished it all up ready for sale. I could nt help thinking of keepin the e36 in terms of looks (and converting to manual) I drive the company car through the day anyway. or just sell it and keep the E30 which Is just about ready to get complied? thanks.
