    Wayneys E46 328i

He Wayne, would you gain much in terms of power or response if it was a 320?
  3. I have a BMW### plate but it came with the car. The dealers put them on and i'd rather leave it on instead of getting a standard "Government Issue Plate". I know we all have opinions, but at the end of the day, its really up to the driver of the car and what he/she makes of the car. I dont see any point in critisism around this as this is a BMW enthusiast club.... isn't it? Just my 2cents
  4. Hi people, Has anyone heard of this being done? I have heard you can fit coupe bumpers directly on sedans with an adaptor kit, but im not sure. Would anyone know what the exact details are, and where the best place to buy adaptors (if at all possible) would be? (not Team Mcmillan as I do not want to spend $$$$$$$) Cheers! Dan
  5. I appreciate your 'pickiness', but in all seriousness now, I completely understand where you are coming from. My statement above was only my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I didn't even read the thread :PI saw the Title on the thread and simply shared my experience. I mentioned that it "feels" like it gained 20HP but obviously, as stated above, I don't know what the true power gains are, nor have I ever taken it on a dyno. It 'feels' a lot more responsive and it actually 'feels' faster, but i'm no HP guru. I should have added in the fact that I had a previous CAI system in there and the ''20HP gain" was from stock standard to the new Gruppe M one. (lazy on my behalf) I Paid around $800 for it (good deal from a mate) but i think it retails for a little over $1200. It was an impulse buy and I usually would never spend that kind of money on a CAI but I am slowly beginning to appreciate its benefits. I had an AFC CAI previous to this and although the sound was similar, the Gruppe M comes up on top... but then you have to ask yourself if the extra $500 or so is worth it. If you are serious, then i guess so? This is my CAI: Gruppe M RAM Air System Model No: FRI-0106 https://www.gruppem.co.jp/en/product/ram/index.html
  6. I have a Carbon Fibre Gruppe M CAI for my 46. Sounds and performs awesome. I thought power gains were marginal.... but without doing a dyno, it feels like its gainned at least 20HP. The throttle response it so much better too. Just my opinion. Pay the price tho....
  7. Good question... I guess its 3 calendar months... But yeah.. again, not sure. You'd have to ring up
  8. Well, i lost my licence on the day of the offence. Officer took my licence off me right then and there BUT, I found the information I needed as per my first post (top). It is not 90 days, in fact, it is date to date. ie. 12 March to 12 June. The reason for my inquiry was so i knew exactly when i could drive again asap For anyone that needs to know/get it clarified, you can call NZTA on 0800 822 422 and they are very helpfull. Hope this helps Dan
  9. Dude, (wayney) your INBOX is full PM me when its a little cleared out so i can PM you
  10. 6 months is for Drink Driving I think.....
  11. Hello all, This is probably a dumb question but does anybody know, if you lose your licence from having too many demerits (over 100), and you are given a 3 mth suspension, is that exactly 90 days or is it from date to date ie. 11 May - 11 August? Cheers! D
  12. I also almost forgot..... When you change your suspension to a Fully Adjustable Suspension setup, you will need to get your car certified. If I can remember correctly, this can cost anywhere from around $300 - $500. You will not pass your WOF if you dont have a cert for them. And if cops find out/suspect (which is quite rare if you have a tidy looking car) you will be paying the price anyway... But coilovers are still worth it IMO.
  13. How did you put the "D" symbol on your genuine NZ Euros? Got any pics? I am definitley doing this. Stuff supporting PP.
  14. Yeah, the E46 M-Sport Package is lower than the standard option. If you can afford it grab some adjustable suspension. I had some bilstein shocks with lowered springs and, although it made the car sit lower and handle slightly better, it just doesnt do the job that adjustables do. The handling and steering response is something you just have to see for yourself when you have them. I used to think adjustables were for people who were serious about racing etc but... I dont race (yet) and this is the best investment i have made!
  15. Yeah i totally agree with that one. I was just thinking something similar a moment ago.... Hmm oh well. Its just my luck that the cops were that hard on me I guess they have to start somewhere.
  16. This is a good answer. It makes sense But yes (Dgb), i guess they will come down hard from now on...
  17. Hey calm down mate. It was a simple question and i dont have a problem. Like i said in my post, its a discussion not an argument. Just wanted to get people's thoughts/perspectives.
  18. I see, can you elaborate on the "font" problem and how that affects everything?
  19. I was cruising down the southern m'way in my Bimmer the other day and was followed by a marked Police car, who eventually pulled me over just before Greenlane. I wasn't speeding, had a Wof & Reg, Full licence, sober etc etc. So I thought I was ok. The officer then asked me if i knew why i got pulled over. I said, "no", with curiosity as to what i may be in store for. He said that your German (D) plates are illegal and you cannot use them. At this point i was kicking myself cause i have heard rumors about these plates not being legit. When i asked people in the past it seemed to be a grey area in discussion and I have seen many of these German (D) plates on the road myself so i thought its no biggie. My mum has had one on her Merc for a couple of years now. I've had mine ever since i bought my car for over 4 years, passed WOF's, been pulled over a couple of times and nothing has been said about my plates. Till the other day.... This resulted in a $200 ticket and a nice little convoy with the police back to my place to get the plates removed (meaning I couldnt drive due to not having any replacement plates). I argued the fact that i bought the car with these plates, I didn't know etc etc and would remove them as soon as i got home but I guess there's only so much you can say...I understand the whole "not being legit plates" and all, but surely a warning first maybe? The plates are no different in terms of materials or size as to those of the EURO plates you can purchase from Personalized Plates.com. It just has a blue rectangle on the left with a white D instead of a blue rectangle and NZ symbol with stars. The font on the German plates are slightly different to those of the NZ made ones but hardly noticable and they can be seen just as clearly. Do personalised plates have a deal with the NZ Police? If you look on the personalised Plates website you can even get logo EURO plates which means no NZ symbol and you can have anything you want on it! For a price ofcourse, but does that mean if i designed a "D" logo on it with a blue rectangle like my plates now, and bought it from PP, it would be ok?? Im not trying to argue the law, because I know now that its pretty much set in stone now, but it just seems a little weird that just becase of a small "D", its immediately illegal. Some of you i'm sure already know all this but for those like me who dont, just a heads-up to any of you out there that has those D German plates still on their car. Thats my rant for the week. Be good to discuss with people if they want to put in their thoughts. Again, i know ultimately I am at fault. It would be good to get other people's perspectives on this matter
  20. Cool, mate. I didnt know bout this website. Thanks for the heads up!
  21. Yeah, the bumpers are roughtly $600 each and I got Quoted roughly $400 for Frieght (for 2 bumpers) The more bumpers i buy, the cheaper the bumpers will be (eg. instead of $600 ea they will be around $550 etc) + Shipping + Duty. Once i have numbers I can get the exact price quoted in NZD Inlcusive of tax, duty and freight. The freight is cheaper between 2 - 3 people cause we can split it 3 ways and the cubic volume is still counted roughly the same as 1 bumper (so I am told) Hope that helps? Cheers
  22. Hey people, I am getting a new, unpainted E46 Front Bumper from abroad and was wondering if any of you out there are keen to get one as well. Tax and frieght is quite costly, so spittling the cost would be benificial. Also, the more bumpers we buy, the more discount. I have been doing a bit of research and these are by far the best quality, and value, that i have seen. Bumper Details Fits 2dr/4dr E46 No Modifications required (just bolt-on and paint) Made of High Quality ABS Plastic Comes with pair of Fog Lights and Mesh Shipping is around $400 to AKL (quote for 2 bumpers) and the bumpers are around $599 each. The more we buy, the cheaper. I will place orders on the 16th of Feb so just wanting to get numbers. Any questions, just let me know! PS: They also do E39 & E36 bumpers for around the same price and same quality. (Comes with mesh, fog lights and mounts etc) Cheers, Dan
  23. Hmmm i dint check that. Good point. Cheers man
  24. I did pull the caliper off to see if it that was the case.. but no. Cheers anyway
