allan 295 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 well how to get really pi******888 off my wife (kerry) came up to me when she got home friday evening and i know from her body language I was not going to be in a good mood for long. We went into the garage and she told me the story and pointed out the problem. Otaki way resealing the road. vehicle in front with trailer, nearing end of the new chipping bury's boot fish tail's the trailer to the side of the road and the loose chip, kerry hit's the brakes to get more distance, she wasn't close any how. the long and short of it. the bonnet has four large paint chips, and several smaller one's, the windscreem has three chips I've found so far, the wing mirrors didn't get away either both have white showing on them.she said it was like multiple shot gun blasts as the stones hit the windscreen what a bitch. the vehicle turned off not long after that and she wasn't able to get close enough to read the pr-558687ks number plate. Has any body got any ideas apart from a trip to the spay painters, filler's, stone protection film a bit late I know.on a good note she wasn't injured in any way just a little shaken up by the whole affair. Guest Denny Crane Report post Posted March 25, 2007 She shouldn't have been so close on loose chip in the first place, regardless of the other drivers actions.

ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 You will never get away from that, i had a full respray on my car under a year ago and i have chips, i got a new windscreen about 2 months ago and that has chips to, its a road, there ARE idiots and wen there is new seal the only thing you can do is sit 50 metres behind the car in front of you, you will more than likely STILL get chips. How big are you chips??

ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 New paint job and I have had my fair share of stone chips ... Word. Its impossible to avoid. I see why people choose matt black as colour of choice. Touch ups = $5 can of spray paint > $1500 to repaint panels
Shucks 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 People are such morons, I'd be a rich person if I got a dollar for everytime someone going the other way through road works hit my car with stones because they thought it was fun or macho to not slow down. antony 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) no one, and i mean no one slows down (to the correct speed) at road works. having worked in the 'industry' (lol at myself) i can tell you stone chips are pretty much unavoidable. although i would slow down if your ever driving through road works on the coast (south island), my boss once threw a hammer thru someones windscreen. Shucks 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) You're an idiot if you don't slow down for road works plain and simple the lower speed limit is there for a reason. Edited March 28, 2007 by Kimmie
