18's rubbing on gaurds

Recommended Posts

Wow didnt know this thread would reach two pages! Sold the car and now brought a 318i manual e36 lol. Wanted manual and it was an impulse buy. Got it at a very good price except comes with 17" chromes but half the chrome has worn away.

Should I get it re-chromed? and if so how much approx? or do a DIY somehow and take off the chrome and repaint white lol. or something different. There is a picture of the car in " My Rides" listed up the top as a new thread.

Thanks guys for all the help!!!!

Regards

Sven

good luck trying to getthem rechromed - it's just about impossible. best bet would be to get them dipped to remove chrome and then polished maybe - but it all costs money!

It's funny how we follow the american trends, pity we are about 3 years behind. My mate was at SEMA in 04 and black centred machined lip were all the rage - now it is coloured centres to match your car colour.

Chrome is a by product of the US hip-hop scene, someone thought it would be a good idea to stick on Malaysian import wheels. ..

it actually went out of fashion in the US about 4 years ago ..

No one's told West Auckland about this.....

There's still a place fo chrome, but tha whole car's gots to be blingin' and pimper than a mo fo for it to work.

Hi charlie

will depend on the width wheel you are running.

18x7.5 - 18 x 8 35 et or higher

18x9 (rear) AT LEAST a 45et or you will get guard rub on the rear.

I see in your other post you are looking for springs, I may be able to help you out, also with wheels if you need them, cheers Johno
