Factory airbox probably outperforms. Remove any baffling from the inside of it, baffling thats there purely to cut down intake noise. There's apparantly a tube in the 328i that when removed makes it sound just that bit more awesome - Alas none in my 320i.

Put a k&n panel filter in if you want to do something.

or get an engineer or metal worker or similar to make you up a tube to connect a pod filter to, just make some measurements, someone would most likely do it for a cash job for you.

probably a waste of time putting a pod filter in, it will only end up sucking in hot air. If done properly i.e ram air intake style, u would probably only see minimal difference.... its the intake manifold which is the bottleneck in there engines from what i gather. Still each to their own :-)

Don't you have to put a heat shield around filter?

take it off and put a stocking over the end of the piping... lol... you do notice the difference, especially on a cold day

I notice my car going better on colder days with stock airfilter/airbox. Its just because cold air is denser.
