Hi guys, just wondering how often you change the engine oil and what brand and type of oil you use,eg Semi Synthetic or Mineral oil and the brand, let's see what you come up with.

I do mine 6 months 5000km.

Use good oil and do a search on here for oil threads - there are a couple debating the various benefits of choosing one type over the other.

Every 5000 kmswith Castrol Magnetc semi synthetic 10/40 seems to stay clean for that duration as well

Anything we run with synthetic oil (AMS OIL)gets 10,000 to 15,000 km changes

Penrite HPR5 5w40 ACEA A3/B3. Semi synthetic but totally synthetic base stock. Absolutely best value around (imo) and available at supercheap auto. Get the filter from the dealer - cheaper!

And if you dont have a service indicator, go by time (6 months max!) unless you clock up 5000 kms in that time!

This is one of my favorite subjects! Very sad I know!

Cheers.

Thats about two years is too long dude!

Unless you're doing only open road driving AND having your oil analysed.

Seriously, with the price of decent quality lubricants at places like Supercheap, theres just no excuse for neglecting your beemer like that.

Unless you're wanting to provide the rest of with a parts car....

Cheers

i doubt not having an oil change will kill her.. my old car a 94 waggon.. which I bought in 2004 still had its stock oil filter on when I gave it an oil change.. oil was so black it could block out the sun!

And I do mine every 6 months too,
