nze30m3 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) Hi Guys Are there any e30 333i in New Zealand? they were ex South africa - only produced in 85-87 and limited numbers. I think they came in red, white, black and silver. What do you guys think this car is worth in NZ? Edited September 18, 2007 by nze30m3
madandy 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) That would depend on the version of 333i you specifically refer to. conrod 1 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 I remember a red one many many years ago, not sure if it is still around though. I would guess similar money to a 325is, maybe $6K to $12K.

Guest Rick James Report post Posted September 18, 2007 There was no factory 333i Turbo. Worth, about the same as a 325iS. I am amused by the fact that you could option P/S or A/C, not both
conrod 1 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) I would've thought they were worth a lot more than $6kJust to give the reasons behind my guess as to what they are worth- it was just that, a "guess." I am not a car dealer, and the range I quoted of $6K to $12K I would have thought reasonable . $6K for a scruffy one needing some work, and $12K for something tidy, maybe even $15K or a bit more for a mint one. I agree with Rick James about them being similar in value to a 325is, they are very similar cars after all. Because there will be only a handful in NZ it becomes one of those "what is somebody prepared to pay for it" type of cars, because you will unlikely get two for sale at the same time to gauge against each other. At the end of the day it is just an E30 with an M30 engine shoved into it,nothing that special about it apart from the fact that it was built in the factory and is relatively rare. It is not like an M3 which had so many unique parts and pedigree to make it collectable, so I don't think it will ever get M3 money. And after all, although the straight line performance will be good, the handling of these things will always be below that of an M20 engined car for obvious reasons. I would rather have a 325is over one of these- I think that would be a better all round car. Out of curiousity, what would you be prepared to pay for one? I am amused by the fact that you could option P/S or A/C, not both yes, the a/c and p/s got me too... limited space i would think... the last 325is i know of that sold fetched around $18k - white one I would of thought that the 333i would fetch more, especially since there were limited numbers - 204 units, and it was a factory build in conjunction with alpina - when you pop the bonet there is alpina everywhere... I would guess similar money to a 325is, maybe $6K to $12K. those prices seem a little low - the last 325is i know of sold for $18k - white one there isnt even any local m325i with mtech 2 kits for 12k... I guess its because its such a rare car that it will depend on what someone is prepared to spend...

B*Emz 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) Out of curiousity, what would you be prepared to pay for one? They're going to be a bit harder to come by than the more 'common' motorsport e30's that are popping up for sale regularly, seeing as only 204 were made, with most of them staying in SA for track use and a few going to the US or the UK privately. I'd hazard a guess and clap about $16k on one if I was selling. That figure is thereabouts what the top end of the m325 market is asking and what a few 325iS' are apparently fetching, though admittedly who knows if anyone's actually getting that sort of money. Clearly the handling is going to be pretty f'ing compromised having a big six clapped in the front, but hey, it could be fun! Were they 5 lug or just standard 4? conrod 1 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Okay, I didn't realise they had a lot of Alpina bits on them, and were so rare. Maybe I was being a bit harsh pricewise. The two 325is I know of were bought for $9K and $12K respectively, and that is what I was basing my guess on. I recently sold a car (an Escort Cosworth) of which there are only a handful in the country. It was the second one I had owned and sold. They both took ages to sell, and this was not because I was asking silly money for them. It is because the market of BUYERS for them is so small. I think these cars we are talking about here fall into that category- how many people are going to cut a cheque for over $10K on any given day, for an E30 that is NOT an M3? You can be over-priced or under-priced but if there is not a buyer out there it will not sell. Back to what I said about it being only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it on any given day. The 325is was five stud, I would guess the 333i is too? P/S and A/C were an option, but you could only choose one because they couldn't squeeze them both on! B*Emz 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) It'd be interesting to see what a 333i would fetch in NZ. It would certainly be quite a rarity, but like you say, there is a very limited market for such things! We can but gesticulate! Neal 544 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) nice spotting on the bimmerfest - thats a mint condition one. the 333i was only one spec - the turbo i think was not a factory option... i stand to be corrected. The 333i turbo was feature in either top car or bmw car in the 1990's (unfortunantly I threw my copies out) , Wasn't a factory option. The Alpina B6 and Hartage H35s are similar in may respects but both use the 3.5 rather than the 3.3 big six. When i was living in London last year these cars were selling for the 5 -6500 pound mark , about the price of a tidy e30 m3. A mint 325i sport would have been about 4000 pounds tops at the time. My fav e30 based big six is the Hartge M3 H36 which was an M3 with the 3.5 M5 engine in it . I think there is a silver 333i in Wellington, I'm sure I saw one a few years back getting serviced at Shelly's. Good luck with finding one Edit, BMW Car May 1997 feature a standard and turbo'd 333i Specs Euro Spec 3210cc inline 6 Getrag 265 CR dog leg gearbox 25 % locking LSD 1256 kg 0-60 7.3 sec Vmax 143 MPH Aplina 7jx16 rims Blisten Dampers Sports Exhaust 197 bhp @ 5500 210lb @4300 Edited September 19, 2007 by Neal

Guest Rick James Report post Posted September 19, 2007 I think the 325iS that sold for 9K was a bargain, I would have paid alot more for it (infact, I paid 12.5K for my iS, which in my opinion wasn't as nearly well sorted) Bearing in mind i've only ever seen 4 325iS in the country, and the fact that they have so much good fruit on them (alpina sways, M3 brakes and hubs, either a C2 2.7 or a B3 2.7 alpina motor, and in the case of the Evo 1's, alloy panels), it stands to reason that they'd fetch a little bit more money than an M325i, but not thatmuch more. NZE30M3, i haven't forgotten your PM a while ago, you're more than welcome to come have a spin in the iS when Glen finishes putting it back together

What you havving done to it? Re iS - from what ive heard, the evo 2 is the sort after model - late 1991 to 1992 - more kw and has the aluminium bonet, fenders and doors. they came with lots of alpina parts. I also heard that the gear box was the same as what we have in the m325i - and that its a week point in the iS. Correct me if im wrong, but i think the 333i actually comes with the M3 gearbox and diff... So the 333i has some good parts...
