530iE34 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Hi to everyone , I have a 530i 94 which has done 170k and still catches 0-100Km in 6 Sec .. -A friend told me about a product that apparently protects the engine so much called "Motor Up ". Does any one recommend to use such a product on BMW engines ? If there are other products which is the best ? I change the oil on time and try to use best petrol ( 98 OCT ) on my car ( expensive ! but hey I love my car ) . -Another question I have is how can I find out my gearbox is ZF or GM to know should I flush and change the gearbox fluid or i just need to add to it ? The reason I want to know is few a little while I feel the gear shiftting is a bit harsh so I wanted to prevent any damage to my gearbox . By the way , my 530i gearbox is 5 speed auto which A and S options ) I appreciate to share your opinion about my questions Regards, Ben

530iE34 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Thanks for the answer , But my watch was ok and I challenged a 330 M3 96( 3 L 6 cylinder ) for it . To be totally accurate i tagged 100Km on 6.4 Second and 330M3 did it on 6.6 The "Sport" option on the gearbox on 530i is just amazing . Although I normally dont put any pressure on the car based on the age and milage it has done but I quite enjoy put my car into test occasionally specially with other BMWs. My mate was asking if I have modified my engine and I told him no its all BMW put together and has no modification . What car you have Kiwi ?

325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Step 1. (Hit and hold sarcasm button now) Step 2. (Insert comment blow) "my 325i does 0 - 100 in 2.6 seconds" beat that Step 3. (release sarcasm button now) Step 4. (insert a relative solution below) A car would do 0 - 100 in round about 3 seconds if driven off a cliff Gravity = 10 m/s-2 100 kmh = 27.78 m/s-1 t = V2 - V1 / a which is some where near 3 seconds

530iE34 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Why I would lie about something like that ? You dont believe me lets put it into test ! My car is automatic 5 speed with Sport and adaptive selection . I assume you have seen it if you own or come across a 530 or 540 . The M3 was manual and I dont know how expert was the driver but he is a pretty good driver though . I believe you aware when that type of gearbox which mine is zf model came out , customers had option to choose between different ratio settings for the gearbox in Germany , France , Japan , USA and England . Maybe you need to check your 530iSE checked cause my clock works perfectly mate

530iE34 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 As far as I know nothing has been done to this car . I should mention it once again I can only reach that time when gearbox set in "Sport" mode . however the "Adaptive" can be quick fast responsive but sport mode is just amazing . My friend purchases a 530I 06 ( 3L 6Cylinder ) and after he drove my car he said he was impressed by the reponse of the sport mode of my car.
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 i agree , i had a 530i e34 V8 for a short while, no way would it do 100km/h in 6.4 secs , maybe your engine has been replaced with the 4L engine , they look the same . std 530i v8 has 160kw , same power as e28 m535i 160Kw and they weigh about 1380kg and do 100Km/h in 7.2 manual and 7.8 in auto . the 34 530i v8 weighs about 1600kg and has less torque than the 6cyl 3.5L engine that's in the older e28 . maybe check your engine numbers from underneth and see if its a 4L block . or check the ecu model number and see if it matches the 4L v8 number etc . the e34 535i 6cyl weighs about 1500kg has 155kw std and does about 7.8 for a 5spd manaul and about 8.8 in a auto .. i know the 5spd auto's in the V8's have a short first gear to get them off the line quicker .. 530iE34 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Engine is 3 L V8 and Nikasil version ( just more money on high octane petrol ) . The 8.8 second that BMW mentions in it's user manual is for Adaptive mode not sport , although I dont know whats the official time for Sport mode . How many of you ever driven a 5 series (V8) in sport mode as gearbox option ?? Do the 3 series models have the same sort of gearbox as well ? Or maybe I got the Batman's car however , iam quite happy of how my car is and I have never needed to speed up to 100Km in 6 , 7 or 8 seconds . My friend who owns the new 530i asked for a contest of who reaches 100km faster and I told him without any doubt you !! And how many of you who own 530i E34 have ESC+ traction control ( Automatic activation so no option to turn it off !) ??
lordandrevv 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 re1st post. if you feel that your gearbox is not very smooth get your oil changed asap. When I didn't bother doing that to much in my 525i e34 it ended up with an expensive fix. And don't put any aditives in your oil, waste of money and time. save that money and put good oil in the car :-D
