Alpina B10 Chip into E34 535iS

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have a B10 chip to put into my 535iS which apparently gives a 15-25hp increase. Anything I need to know before I do this??? I assume its safe and wont blow up the ECU??

If you've got the correct ECU for the chip then you shouldn't have ECU issues, maybe tuning issues afterwards though

Might pay to wear a earthing wriststrap when handling ECU and eprom.(discharges static) Do not touch eprom legs, hold rom on ends and pay attention to notch polarity.

Hope that is some help.

I put an M-tec chip into one of my 540`s along with a 3.25 LSD. Turn the traction control of and the fun begins.

I intend to try a similar combo in my 6 spd. 540is

Sounds good.

Ray is the M-Tec chip an OEM BMW one? Have been considering Turner motorsport one from the states - they have one for 540 manual. Ray I'd be really keen to see and hear what you do to tweak that car. If you don't blow it up I might be keen to copy you ;)

and Brent I expect a Hartge chip setup is pretty hard to come by

Looks good Ray

Did it already have clear indicators on it?

Robin @ Torque Performance can now reprogramme BMW's too.

Cain is your LE tricked in any way? Performance enhancing drugs? Aftermarket chip?

Are they the guys that specialised in Holdens and Coons?

No, cats removed. That's it. 172.?kW @ wheels. (I can't remember the exact figure)

I am looking at giving Robin a lash at the 540, but I'd like to get the exhaust done first. He's moving further down the road into Patiki Rd shortly, so I'll wait until he is in the new place.

Who knows, if I get this new job, it'll get done faster.

Sorry, yes, he used to specialise in Fords. He's tweaked the Bosses R8 GTS and got an additional 20kW at the wheels. 260kW!

Nice.

Hmmm am keen to squeeze a bit more power out but not at all cost. I think chipping will be my last option at this stage

And Ray since I put the stock airbox back in the noise out of those twin pipes has gone up a bit! Am getting "boy racer" looks from everyone!!

But it was definitely a good move - the pod filter that came in the car had a bloody hole in it!

If you run euro spec cars they are pretty well tuned. To give you some idea on the work needed to give gains without capacity increase look at the M60 4ltr by Alpina.

Gas flowed heads,compression 10.7:1,lightweight Mahle pistons,remap ecu, peak power 315ps @ 5800 & 410nm @ 4600.

Not huge gains over stock.

Their next shot gave 340ps but with 4.6ltr.(93mm borex85mm stroke)

Don't expect BIG gains solely with chips on modern BMW engines.(probably some exceptions)
