Jonty m50e30 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Yeah one to one fifth on that box you have - I would go with the 2.93, 3.25 would haul ass though!
Boost Junky 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Yea was just taking into account the cost in fuel at the moment and with the potential for it to continue rising lol.... i guess this is what ya get with a swap like this cant have everything (economy & power) I dont know how to check what I have at the moment I have found various numbers on the diff but how do i tell the ratio? westy 614 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 A later e36 328 auto runs a 3.07/1 ratio. Should fit the 186 e30 housing. Will need a pro to set it up.
Jonty m50e30 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Normally there is a little metal tag that is attached to the rear cover by one of the main bolts, these are normally pretty rusty but will have the ratio stamped on them, the other way is to mark the out put shaft and the diff case then turn the drive shaft and count how many turns of the out put shaft to one turn of the drive shaft - crude but will get you pretty close, its easy to tell the diff from a 4.1 to a 3.46 for instance.
