AFM swap on E30

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've got a 85 323i 5speed

just wondering if i put a AFM off a 2.7L or 2.5L on the 2.3L would it make any difference performance wise?

My brother has a skyline with an rb20det and he put a nissan 300zx AFM on it and it went hard.

um i don't think it's a good idea. The AFM is designed for that particular engine - you are better spending your time getting it tuned properly you will see a better result performance and economy wise. Even if you just tune the Air/Fuel at idle.

in saying that - are the AFM's any different between those 3 models anyway??

Its not as simple as just plugging in a bigger AFM. Ask your brother. He is ether running an aftermarket ECU like a Power FC or Link or has had his ECU chipped to suite.

You would need to do the same on the BMW's.

As Ollie said. Just get her well tuned.

Even if you just tune the Air/Fuel at idle.

is it possible to explain how to adjust the air/fuel at idle?

i know where the adjustment is but unsure of what i should be looking for where its set in the right position

You need a gas analyser to set a AFM up properly

M30 AFM is a common swap on M20's... big difference in size. Google M30 AFM E30 or something.... heaps of info. I think you can use any AFM with the last digits 021 or 020 or something like that. Research it through google.
