Does the chassis number represent anything?

Recommended Posts

Hi im overly bored waking up early this morning and i cant seem to find if the chassis number of my bmw e30 means anything, WBAAA320007436065

is it just a random bunch of letters and numbers?

does it represent something like e30 does and you can break it down to factory built ect ect

Yep, it represents the model of car, year, month and place of manufacture, and a host of other info. There is a breakdown somewhere. but you'll have to do a search.

The dealer can bring up the original option list through the chassis number.

If they can be bothered...

try and ask nicely here and you'll get all your options

WBAAA320007436065

W = Manufacturing country = Made in Germany

B = Make = BMW Germany

A = Vehicle Type = Passenger car

A = Line = 3-series up to 2001

A = Series = 3-series

3 = Body type = 3-series body

2 = Vehicle type = ??

0 = Restraint system = Manual seat belts

0 = VIN check digit

0 = Model year = ??

7 = Assembly plant = ??

436065 = sequential production number - in yout case this is 1 digit too short

I think you left a digit out of the VIN

If your VIN = 7436065 then you have a:

P E30 2-T 320i M20 ECE 19830200 R M

which means:

Passenger car

E30

2-door

320i

M20 motor

ECE model

Made in 1983 February

Right hand drive

Manual
