divar82 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2008 Hi I have a 1991 320i auto that needs a replacement engine. I also have a 1990 318i auto that needs its transmission replaced. I got a quote of $1800. + gst for a reconditioned trans, I'm wondering whether converting it to manual would be better. I love my manuals so am really keen on that option. Been having trouble finding the parts though. As for the 320i engine, I'd love to upgrade it depending on the cost, otherwise a replacement will be fine. I love the look of my cars, I'd just love to have the performance to match. Are there any v8's or turbo's that would fit straight in either car? Any advice with what to do would be really appreciated.

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 dont waste your money fixing a 318i auto , when you could convert it to a manual for less . also swap the 320i engine with a similier year 325i engine and maybe 5spd as well while your at it. they come up often enough , and resonably cheap . even if you buy a smashed car to get the parts and flick off the shell when you finish with it .
