de-registered e30

Recommended Posts

Hi there. i have a problem and needing expert advice.

I have a e30 325i with m kit, and a few years ago my bro was in an accident, nothing serious, just rear damage and partial frontal impact. The car was written off, cos it was insured 3rd party and the lady that smashed into my bro didn't have insurance. My bro ended up buying it back and has been out back since.

That was a couple years ago, and i've got money to put the car back on the road (so i think). I'm wanting to know, where would be a good place to take a car like for panelbeating and to get it back on the road. there's nothing wrong with the engine and gear box... started up without a hitch about a month ago.

It's a 1991, so it should be sweet getting it certified, right? it's a NZ new..

So just wanting to know a good BMW panelbeater, with honest opinion. there is some rust under the right, rear wheel arch, so needs that touched up.

cheers

Good on ya for saving it, the re VIN process can be a bit annoying but worth it if it’s a 325i-m.

I can recommend a couple, what’s finances like and what standard a you after.. the former greatly influences the later.

The guy I use is known as the best plastic welder in Auckland, I have seen him save some parts that you wouldn’t have thought possible, he specialises in rare cars and all body work he does is like new. He is responsible for quite a few of NZ top hot rods , classics and race cars.

I'm waiting on my Honda getting sold to free up more funds, but probably looking under $6000 fully restored, and to a standard where it will get WOF with no worries. I mean, my main concern is the rust under the wheel arch.

Obviously im looking to keep costs down but also at the same time trying to avoid a piss poor effort. Im not in a rush to have it fixed immediately, so also looking to have it housed at the panelbeaters till its done properly.

Where abouts you recommend, and where abouts your welder mate?

Cheers
