OLLIE 26 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 power gain from extractors will be fairly significant 10-20hp, they'll allow the exhausts to flow way better. basically each pipe from each cylinder is a tuned length depending on the timing of the engine/cam so that exhausts from two or more cylinders don't collide where the pipes meet 6-2 (pipes are even lengths standard) thats how i understand custom headers or extractors anyway. also as far as cold air boxes and pods go i think your car will run worse most the time except at a particular powerband where it might run a teency bit better. its a bit of a compromise. cainchapman 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2004 On the subject of cold air. Obviously more air & fuel into your car is a good thing. Cold air: every 10 degrees C colder you can have the charge of air/fuel going into the motor you will get a 1% increase in horsepower. This is why drag cars run faster times in the evening when the track has more grip (due to absorbing the sun all day and being warmer) and the air is colder.
