martyyn 2 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Thats an interesting response Glenn, when my airbag sensor went (and so the light came on) I was told by both the dealer and Page European down here that it was perfectly safe to drive whilst we waited for a replacement from Germany. The idea being that if any part of the SRS system fails the whole system gets shut down and the only difference would be that the airbags wouldnt trigger if you had an accident. Its very common for the SRS light to be triggered by a faulty passenger seat sensor thats a relatively very easy DIY fix. There is plenty of information out there about it for you to read sabbath but of course having it hooked up to the computer should give you the answer straight away. simke 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2009 I had a problem few months ago with a faulty air bag switch in the steering wheel, so the obc had logged an error a few times - it would still pass the check when I started the car, but the light would turn on again to notify that there was a logged error. Think in this case Glenn was referring to towing rather than driving due to water consumpion rather than SRS fault. Totally correct though on having it scanned to confirm fault. Yes...I was referring to his water problem ...not the airbag fault There are four components in the passengers seat for SRS Occupancy sensor Control unit Seat belt receiver (actuator) Seat belt receiver wiring loom (very problematic) And you will need a scanner to do an SRS reset Some of the DIY repairs are illegal ie: resistors to fool the system My advice....get it done properly by someone who knows what he is doing Edited January 22, 2009 by *Glenn* Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
OSiRiS 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Just bringing this back up; I removed the bottom half of my rear seat because I wanted to carry some heavy items on a long distance trip. I noticed straight away that the airbag light came on when I started the car. I thought it had something to do with removing the rear seat, which was quite obvious. However, when I got back to Auckland I put the rear seat back in the car, started the car and the airbag light is still on Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Is it dangerous to drive with this light on ? could it possibly be able to damage other elctronics? I was quoted around $550 to get this fixed.Is this a fair price ? Also needs fixing for a WOF. Sounds about right for a price to fix. DONT look to cheat on a fix -they are there for a reason.
