Diagnostic lights- getting them to display

Recommended Posts

Surposedly you press the accelerator to the floor 5 times with the key switched on to accessories(?) - not sure or the exact key position off hand to get the diagnostic lights come up- I tried it with no success on my e34- anyone successfully used this method? Looking at an E39 but I think procedure is the same for all models

Yes I can find the procedure on the net but just wondering if anyone has used it?

And if you do get the lights flashing is it easy to decypher- thinking of looking at a car to check for any faults, that the owner doesn't want to get inspected.

Hay ive had no luck doing that even with diffrent instrament clusters, forgive the spelling

i have a funny feeling that it will come down to how the ecu is wired given the fact it says it works on all models

I heard it only worked on OBDI cars. Having said that I tried it on my OBDI E36 and it didn't work.
