mystery39 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 Hi all, I've recently bought an E39 I'm looking at lowering - I've heard good things about Snells Springs for compression, but I've got a few questions. I picked up a set of lowering springs (down springs i think they are) for an E39, but they were from a wagon - I figure the rear springs will be stiffer and therefore need compressing to sit correctly in a sedan? Is this a better option than compressing all four standard springs? And will I need to get my shocks shortened? I'm wanting to go right down to the legal limit. Thanks in advance! *Glenn* 854 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Compressing is a NO No You need proper springs but Keith @ H&R is out of them. His number is 021378902 if you want to talk to him and get the right advice. He might have springs coming If you do a minimal drop you wont have to shorten shocks For a really good ride...Buy a set of Bilsteins of Ebay and do a 30mm in the front & 50mm in the rear drop to level the car up, as the E39's tend to be a bit arse high. Better wheels would also set it off Edited January 27, 2009 by *Glenn*
diablo23 1 Report post Posted January 28, 2009 you can also call up mag and turbo and see if they will do a spring match up .they lowered a 525 the other week back right on the 100mm limit with tien bmw springs in the front and mazda rx6 springs in the rear. all captive and handles fine, prolly will get them to do my 7 if i cant get h&r lowering stage two kit
