Recommended Posts

really keen on an all black interior and was wondering if any came out standard with it in??

have a mint one already if someone wants to swap?

also anyone had a new one installed or anything and could roughly guess a price??

find it strange that the whole interior is dark and then the roof has a tan tinge??

half cut & and had a brain fart - will research properly 2moro ^_^

M325i was the only E30 to come out with a black headliner. Maybe you could find someone wrecking one. Although you could get the carpet/vinyl dye in a spray can from repco/supercheap/mitre 10 etc and remove yours and make it black.

I think one or two people have done it on here.

black recaro lethar seats and i believe the door cards were black also? You would probably have to die the carpet and redo the hood lining to get black.

Im not a guru on e30 interior but sure thats the case somebody correct please im bound to be wrong.

I've taken headliner out. Fiddly and boring job. Got bored and used a knife halfway through.

Large amount of patience would be necessary to get it out in one piece.

Ask Gus, think he sprayed his one while it was still in the car. Would have to be patient either way.

I got the headlining redone in nice black felt stuff in the touring (bigger than sedan and always peels off).

Cost ~$250 maybe slightly more.

Be careful with it, once the board is bent it will never look good again.

[edit] That included getting sunroof lining done also.

Hey mate,

yeah I've taken several out before, takes patience etc, gotta remove front / rear screens,A pillar trim, check controller trim, and remove door rubbers around the door jams, as the head liner folds around the metal lip that holds the window and door rubbers. Also there are wire rods that go across the cabin threaded through the liner and clip into the cabin. I'm assuming you don't have a sunroof

What I sugget you do, is look at a stripped out e30 wreck (with liner) and see how it is constructed before you work on yours, and plan how you will remove it etc.

good luck

Jon
