ECU remap Hi Velocity

Recommended Posts

Sounds good David. Sounds better than good actually. Will be going to him sometime this year after seeing those sorts of results, the only thing that put me off after we had our talk last year, was when I called him to ask about prices he said it would estimate around $1000! So I decided to wait, but to hear he is time based now sounds good.

After reading this I gave him a call about getting the 540 in for a tune too. Unfortunately he was pretty busy next week when I was going to be available but he said that if it's your car's first time on his dyno, that he'd allow a day and that he has a flat rate of $1000 plus GST or $800 + GST for a Bimmersport or BMW club member.

I think subsequenst vists get charged at an hourly or half-day rate

I would have thought that $800 plus gst is a real good rate for a full first time tune, especially if he allows a day, would have to be the cheapest HP you'd ever get. :)

I don't disagree at all Dave. I just couldn't match my schedule to his spare slots

I'm very much looking forward to handing over my $800 + GST in the near future! :)

If you're that keen to hand over your money, I'll take it, and I'll get out my coloured pencils and draw you a nice graph. Bragging rights are half the attraction right?

You guys on Bimmer that have purchased and fitted my M20 headers should be seeing Gavin, for re-mapps for max gains. He believes 20 RWHP gains are archieveable.

Already got one in the service history  I think there's even more potential for a bit more shove you back in your seat acceleration

Gavin did mine. It had already been dyno tuned by someone else, but it was detonating.

They'd ramped up the fuel pressure to stupid levels and unplugged sensors to trick the ecu so it would run.

It was detonating lots. Gavin got it making the same power but with all the sensors plugged in, correct fuel pressure, and NO detonation.

Ring DCH motorsport, or someone who specialises in BMW's/euro's or NZEFI possibly, Theres also a auto sparky down here that sells reputable chips from memory, round $1000 ... Autopassion used to sell chips also but i see their shop on Moorehouse ave is shut so they could have moved or shut down, best to email them

or buy a M3 lol

Well, got around to getting my car to Gavin Bellars at Hi Velocity today, got a full remap of my ECU. Started with 145 hp on the stock E34 535 ECU, Gavin got it up to 170 hp, purely by remapping, no other changes at this stage.

E28_dyno.pdf

This would have to be the cheapest Hp you could ever buy, I'll certainly be going back after my engine rebuild.

You can get hold of Gavin at

Hi Velocity

16D Parity Place, Glenfield, Auckland

09 442 4451

Easy to talk to, and knows what he's doing, it's good to see someone who does things properly for a change.

Hi Guys,

Am thinking about investing in a set of the shortie headers that Wayney makes, and it appears the remapping of the ECU is an integral part of getting full benefits of what they are capable of. Reading this and other threads Gavin at Hi Velocity seems to be the guru in Auckland, but I am in Christchurch. Here, NZEFI or DCH Motorsport are "suggested to try" for similar service. Anyone had any experience with these firms in Chch? Be nice to find someone who is as highly recommended in Chch as Gavin is in Auckland.............

Cheers, Chris
