jackcc5 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 Hello there i think these videos will help answer some of your Questions about The Radar That police use in there cars http://www.youtube.com/user/jsb08vette click the link or copy and paste it in your your address bar. There are meny Videos on this Youtube Channel on police Radar i think you will find they work a lot better then you think they do Eg: one guy on here says he thinks it takes them time to get a speed Reading and that they have to be close. fact it takes about 1 or 2 seconds to get a speed reading. fact it's not legal in new zealand To Jam Police Radar (The Stalker Sl mounted in there Partrol Cars) and the passive jammers dont work another fact they can detect you along way away even with out seeing your car. Fact you cant beat the Instant on (Aother Wise known As Hold mode OR Pulse mode) if the cop Hits you Directly takes them less then a second to get your speed no time to hit the break. ................................................................................ ................................................................................. .... You can detect a Mobile Speed camera van Before it detects you provided you have a Good Radar Detector And the Terain is Clear It gets Detected As Ka Ban this video confirms it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkMpUqOv-mM and i dont think the Police Use the Hawk Radar Any more i have done some Reasearch and i believe the Hawk Was K ban Radar not Ka i am not sure but i believe they can also detect how fact you are going if you are behide them there Radar has three displays. Patrol Car Speed (This is there speed) front Traget Speed Rear Target speed (inSide A Police Car) http://www.111emergency.co.nz/POLICE-Patrols/EBT2b.JPG
diablo23 1 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) sweet videos edit: yup they can ping you from behind aswell, always keep an eye out for police cars with the ball in the middle of the rear tray and front right of the dash. if they dont have these then they can only guess your speed Edited March 11, 2009 by Tha Cosa Nostra
Driftit 2093 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 I got caught passing a truck not long ago down by Matamata. I could not even see the cop car in the distance. Which means he could prob not see me ether. But his radar did.
hybrid 1044 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 Been pinged from 900meters myself. Radar detectors are only good when they A) have the radar operational all the time and B ) pinging other traffic with hold mode and lighting up the detector. You have no chance if your speeding and your that first person out of hold mode as I found out hard way. Has defanitl curbed my heavy foot habit and made me install cruise control to keep me honest. works well.
Cale 36 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 I too have been caught from a long distance on my motorbike. I couldn't even see a car ahead and when I'd finished passing the police car was waiting on the side of the road for me.
deeveus 81 Report post Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) Anyone here a Cop LOL ? Reason I ask; are those systems the same there as they are here or different? I've got a Beltronics XR-950 and its superb. I might have averaged 130kph all the way from Auckland to Dunedin and it picked up atleast 10 cops, one cheeky one that was sitting on the side of the road in a highway patrol car and doing the trigger system which was in those videos. The detector wouldn't have picked it up as it would have been far too late, it was just lucky I spotted the car first. The radar detector then picked him up over 1km away whilst his frontal radar was following me. Highly recommend the Beltronics as a brand personally, its saved me some serious coin. IMO there's not a great deal of point in having high powered cars designed to sit on the ton & not use them, obviously in a safe environment & not acting like muppets. My radar detector picks up mobile speedcameras also, but obviously not fixed ones. There are some available with GPS that have all the stationary speedcameras programmed in, but I think you have to update their software regularly. greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted March 12, 2009 I don't know a lot about radar detectors, but that Escort 8500 X-50 gets kudos in my books! Picking up a camera from 900 meters is quite a distance. I realize that it seemed a while in the video, 60km speed limit and stationary camera. It would be a lot sooner if both yourself and the cop were coming at eachother at 100km.
