You careless $#%#$%

Recommended Posts

So a moment of carelessness lead to me breaking the hinge on the fuel flap... see attached photo

So my first question is, where can I find a replacement part and get it fitted?

There are also some other parts I want to source replacements for:

- Grey floor mats (more specifically just the driver side mat)

- The clips that hold the floor mats down

- Various tools that are missing from the boot

- A full set of genuine e34 wheels, imperial sized, not metric!

Also the car has a couple of minor dents and deep scratches that I would like to get removed, can any of you recommend a good panel beater?

Finally, where should I go to get it serviced, Chch BMW? Kevin Burt?

Cheers guys, it's great having a community like this to ask questions to!

Eurorec on Blenheim Road is the only BMW specific wrecker in Chch. They should have all those bits you're after. If they're not too busy they sometimes fit parts for you while you wait. However, a fuel flap shouldn't be too hard to DIY.

Otherwise, Ray @ HELLBM can post the bits down to you from Auckland.

Will I need to replace the whole fuel flap cover? or is the hinge part able to be replaced separately?

I found the part here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=41&fg=25

But will go to the wreckers on tuesday, if they don't have it then i'll get it shipped down from one of the guys on this forum.

Don`t bother with secondhand hinges. Go for a new one.

Other parts should be easy to source locally. If you have no joy text or call me.

Thanks, so to get a new hinge do i just go to an authorised dealer (ie chch BMW)?

I'll try the local bmw wreckers for the other parts, cheers

Well I managed to get one tool from eurorec in chch, and I got the hinge from BMW (cheers for the advice HELLBM, I see why you have to buy them new!)

I'm still after:

- A set of 16" or 17" e34 wheels

- grey plastic clips that hold the mats down in the car

- light grey drivers side floor mat (and possibly the other 3 depending on what the asking price is)

- The tow hook that goes in the tool kit, I have all of the other tools.

Only interested in genuine E34 parts, will take an E30 tow hook if someone can confirm they are exactly the same?

cheers again

ps if you pm me I will send you my email address for further contact
