Carl 3 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 (edited) The Surgery They just did a job on my car and their finished work is immaculate. They're a quality operation and all their work comes with a 5 year guarantee and their cost is quite reasonable. Mike is also quite communicative about the work going on aswell. Get quotes from the different places if you like, I took a photo of mine problem and emailed it, the quote matched the cost so no hidden surprises. Deftones 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Barry Mansfeild Smash Repairs These guys were recommended by the people at Shelly BMW. They do all of their repairs. They took out some dings, large scrapes and resprayed my kit. They did a very good job and did not muck me around (like most mechanics do). I don't know what a reasonable price would be, but was perfect for me, as they are based in the city.
martyyn 2 Report post Posted November 8, 2004 I had Barry Mansfield do a whole heap on mine too and I cant say I was that impressed. They said it would be four days but leave it a week to be sure. Didnt hear from them on the Friday so I phoned them at 4pm and they said it was almost ready but that I had to be there by 4.30 otherwise they would shut up shop. Get there to find they hadnt finished at all and that they wanted it back the next week too. Again it took twice as long as they quoted and this time they left marks in the car where they were supposed to have repaired a small dent, was like someone had rolled a pizza cutter along the panel. Took it back a third time to find the paint on the boot hadnt settled at all well, the sparkles in the paint looked all blotchy, but I was so annoyed at having to go back and never being called about the progress that I just told him I wasnt happy and that I wouldnt be bringing back as he'd had enough efforts at it. To be honest you have to have almost xray vision to see the problem on the boot but then we all have that when we look at our own cars dont we. Oh and the shutlines were shocking, whoever put the masking tape on did a crap job, I spent the weekend cleaning them up :-( Just goes to show you can get a bad experience no matter who recommends you. Deftones 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 bummer about the experience. I didnt' have any crash repairs done, just minor touchups. Thanks for the insight!
shadowninja 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2004 Blair Wright - excellent though pricy Arlington Motors - like to think of themselves as euro specialists Barry Mansfield - pretty average but reasonable in cost Marment Panel & Paint - good courtesy car service Sounds like the work you want to do is pretty minor, so long as the paint match is done right.
