Lucan 196 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 These tyres are made in South Carolina, USA. SEE THROUGH TIRES!! Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show. 01.bmp Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tire from the outside tread 'wrap!' The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion.... 02.bmp Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it? 03.bmp 04.bmp These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips aren't meant to work on these. Just think of the impact on existing technology: A. no more air valves... B. no more air compressors at gas stations... C. no more repair kits... D. no more flats... These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin **Why dont my pictures ever show on the actual post? is it the picture format or... melowpuf 19 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 They need to put an outer wall on them, primarily for aesthetics. or a "hub cap" type cover for your new airless tyres that everyone will go ewww at. Maybe good idea for a spare emergency wheel. I dont think I could ever bring myself to put them on any of my cars.
bravo 35 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 I'd rock some. 8" rims with HEAPS of side wall. Use coloured rubber for rainbow spokes! I think the prototype is designed that way to showcase the technology and prove they are really airless. I think you'll find any production units will get thin sidewalls to make them look more like traditional tyres. Valveless, puncture-resistant tyres - excellent. I wonder if they could do an off-road version that you can "let the pressure down". Not sure if this would even be possible with these.
mtech1e30 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2009 **Why dont my pictures ever show on the actual post? is it the picture format or...Id say its the format rather than the lack of img tags. Use JPG instead of BMP, they are smaller and take less time to load.
