shipping from the states to NZ

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just wondering if you know of any good (read cheap) companies to try for shipping from the states to NZ.

The product is AROUND ABOUT the size of an m60 manual gearbox with associated bits and bobs. :D

Thanks in advance,

Ian.

Yeah, he said about 1600 for I think the box alone. I'm not sure which company he used though, will PM him now.

A quick google and check on the fedex site shows I might be able to get this landed in NZ for about the same with all the extras?? Not 100% sure on sizes and weights though, but have guesstimated them.

I've had extremely good service from International DHL. And reasonably cheap, although nothing I've brought in would be anywhere near as heavy as a M60 gearbox!

Nick - I tried using their website to get some estimates, but had no luck. Will give them a call tomorrow to try get some better prices. (stupid work not allowing me to call international numbers :P)

How about this outfit? I'm sure its not the only one.

I'd love to find a way of getting stuff here for not too much $$, so I nominate you as the guinea pig :o

This is the company to use ... I have used them to bring in a lot of car parts. The pricing is varied according to physical size but last entry was a set of 4 tires and price was around $300 but don't quote this. Matt is the Kiwi over there doing it and I believe they are shipping around 20+ containers a month to NZ !!! Not sure about current volumes with recession. They are part of the Mainfreight group and I wish I had got onto them a lot earlier.

Service is brilliant. All I do is get the eBay person or company to quote me a price to Carson CA and then once set, give Matt a headsup what is coming their way. You pay the freight, GST and charges in one payment to them then you collect your goods. They are bringing in a lot of US cars for kiwis.

It is easy, professional and trusting.

Also Sammy mentioned bringing a container back at some stage, could pay him to bring it back, just a thought.

hold on a bit , might have some options on some M60/m62 /N62 gearboxes coming soon out of euroland.

should be less than trying to ship one out of the states .

anyone else want one??

Check out this month's Classic Car magazine there is an article in there about bringing cars and parts into NZ, with about half a dozen specialist companies listed with their details.

For cars and / or larger parts a specialist service would be much better service and cheaper than any of the global freight companies like TNT, FedEX, etc.

some of the container companies need to ship empty containers back to their home base and you can sometimes get really good rates if you are in one of those...
