EML Light on '89 E34

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Changed my reversing lamp yesterday (only one going since I bought the car), and since then my EML light has been light, won't even turn off with ignition.

Last time it came on was when I left my lights on, and battery died, again ign off, and only EML glowing. But once bat full again, light went out.

What does EML stand for, and how do I make the bloody thing go away.

Cheers in advance,

Assuming you have M20 like your info says

EML=Electronic motor load regulation. You dont have it. Only on 750i and 535i with ASC IIRC

Tried resetting the ecu?

Yup, M20B25. It's Schnitzer badged, but don't know what, if any, mods have been done in that respect. Only had it a year.

How do I go about resetting the ecu?

early model e34 have issues with the clusters , the capicators die with old age etc and corrode teh circuit board and cause shorts etc.

maybe it has a fault in the cluster , i have spares you can try .
