Creaver 55 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 What is the difference with dot4 and dot5.1? Wikipedia says this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_5.1 And I understand all that. But will it damage my current brake piping/hoses? Would you recommend using it in my car? etc Cheers, Ian.
Mark 178 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 Shouldn't damage anything. DOT 5.1 can replace DOT 4 in any car I believe. I use it in the E30 and it hasn't caused any problems. Simply stops fluid boil when I take it to the track.

Carl 3 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 Thanks guys. Was just worried as after last time I cooked mine and they went all squishy. Fairly standard behaviour, just flush off a good amount from each brake after each race, rinse and repeat.
