jordyboy2 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 welcome mate 188,000kms is nothing for a properly looked after engine, the 2.8 may not feel like your going anywhere fast though and always get a pre purchase inspection, from a indipendant euro specialist

What are they like to fix?? And is there any general problems that pop up at these sort of kms?? He is wanting to swap for my listing. 236918916 contemplating it but just worried about how much its gonna cost me in the long run. My Audi has been a awsum. parts are easily obtained and pretty simple engines to work on. Bmw engines look quite tricky?? correct me if im wrong ha-ha
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 probaly not as quick as your audi turbo . but at least the engine has the correct number of cylinders and drives the right wheels but the engine and trans are pretty basic units . pretty reliable , just keep up the servicing oil etc, keep them cooL!!! thats the only time these engines give any trouble when a simple thing like a failed water pump , hose , thermostat or radiator give out and people keep driving them till they are stuffed. maybe price wise about $6-7k
vyking56 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 There are a few E39 540i's with better KMs floating around Trademe at the moment. Just a thought

jjs 64 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 He is wanting to swap for my listing. 236918916 I can't access TradeMe, so can't check the details of your car... But why do you want to swap an A4 1.8t Le Mans for a leggy 528i? I would think the Audi would be worth more. My experience suggests that swap deals never work. Best to sell your car privately and then find the right car.
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 With those KM's and the current market. I would think it would be worth more around 6-7K also.
