mark247 39 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 I plan to drop a m50b25 into my car at some point in the future, but being a poor uni student I need every penny I can get. At the moment the car has a m20b25 in it, which has done 149,000 MILES. Valves are a bit ticky ( it's a m20, what do ya expect? lol ) but other than that it's a not bad engine. I just did the cambelt last weekend, I took the waterpump off and it seemed fine, bearing was mint, so I didn't replace it. What is this engine worth? It's just I would budget the value of it into the m50 conversion so I know how much I can spend. Any ideas? $300? more? Cheers fellas. By the way, if anyone is interested in it let me know also. Driftit 2078 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) Picked my 1990 M20B25 with 100K on it for $200. Was a bit lucky though. Was advertised wrong on TM so none of the bimmersport hoarders spotted it. When you say ticking lifters do the eccentrics need adjustment or do you have a worn camshaft. You will only know if the cam is worn if you run out of adjustment. My old 325 has a slighty worn camshaft but has done 300,000kms. Maybe if I get bored one day I'll check the clearances lol.
Apex 693 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 Paid $900 for mine, this is what a parts place would charge. If it’s running and you can show that it is in good nick I would start the bidding at $600.
