|ncary 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 I'll be someones slave for a week if they can get smoke out of the rear tires on a downhill slide. Smoke comes from powering, DH stuff is all inertia Another one you guys can pisstake :

crazyarab 6 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 It's still in the shop Atta? What's wrong with it? Nothing, just the standard service etc. Ok, I am on for the weekend... Sunday shoot anyone ??
|ncary 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 just need more angle then... Like this? There's only 10-20% throttle on in a DH drift, smoke is impossible unless it's a really long corner and the the tires heat up enough.

They are great shots and good effort for doing them. But they do look abit plain for an 'action shot', Like too clear. Maybe if the shot was focussed on the car and the background abit blurry it would look more like it's in motion ?
|ncary 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 I didn't take them, I know they need a slower shutter speed. And I'm posting the rejects.

Mark 178 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Slower shutter speed won't help. Only way you can get a shot with the car in focus and the background blurred is if the cameraperson is in a car alongside going the same speed, or if you have a camera rig on the car. You could always pshop some smoke in?
|ncary 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 It will help, you can reduce shutter speed and track the car with AI Servo focus and that way the car is in focus and the back ground has horizontal blur. Just like Frantics Pic there. But the idea today was crisp pics for a mature Calender. The submitted pics don't have much oversteer going on.

|ncary 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Going the same speed as the subject is not the _only_ way to get blurry background though. Certainly have to know shutter speeds are their effects to get a shot like your second one Heath. I'm still quite surprised you think that Mark, you seem to know your stuff! *Took shots like this last week at the MotoSoc trackday. I wasn't running down the mainstraight at 130kph to get them haha Edited October 15, 2009 by Incary

Mark 178 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 True true, I don't know everything. AI focus can work wonders. But you'll notice your last shot isn't completely in focus. A large aperture telephoto zoom is the shizz (what was most likely used in the shot Frantic posted). But they're lots of $$$.
