Engine mounts replaced...still shakes!

Recommended Posts

Ok, picked the car up from McMillan his morning feeling great because it now has new Engine Mounts (Corteco) and tranny mounts (Lemforder)

DME reprogrammed, idle up to wher it should be.

I do how ever now have a fan / clutch that has alot of play - next job.

I still have a vibration when I am at a red light in Drive or slip it into reverse.

WTF!!!???

What else can be causing the shaking??

Oil service has been done, PCV, intake gaskets, spark plugs, ignition coils.

Help!!

Since it only happens in gear, it may be a transmission problem.

It won't be spinning whilst he's stopped though, Nathan.

what kind ov vibration is it? Is it variable ? as in does it get worse or better during acceleration? or when you give it a little gas while on the brake in gear? (while staying stationary + not doing a burnout that is haha)

Youve brought this up before. I offered to have a proper look at it for you.. not just a 10 minute quick scan & drive. Youve spent alot of money on things trying to sort it which hasn't helped. Before you start spending more... it needs to be diagnosed correctly. 90% of doing a job right is actually diagnosing the fault properly in the first place. The offer to have a look still stands if you want to book it in.

Did you take it to McMillans to diagnose the fault ? or did you just ask them to fit the mounts ? If you asked them to fix the problem and its still there I suggest you take it back because its still not fixed

Yip I suggest you take it to Glenn. He really puts the effort and time into sorting problems. Not just guessing and replacing parts that could be the problem.

Thanks for the replays guys - the shaking only happens when I have the foot off he gas and idle, as soon as I put my foot on the gas it goes.

I had a look under the car and the exhaust shakes the same way??

Today - been into McMillan to have it looked at:

Scanned - no faults

Fuel Filter added - no difference

Fan Coupling / Clutch replaced (it was lose)

Could one of my cats be plugged?

If a cylinder is out it would be alot worse wouldnt it?

Sorry guys, forgot the main part

It was the exhaust - the mount is lose and also the damper (AARRGGGH)

All that f**king around, I am now sleeping on the couch for a week.
