louis297 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Hey does it matter if I have odd springs ? Say jamax lows in the back and different lowering ones in the front ? Thanks
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Not realy. I have Bilstein on the front and Vogtland on the rear. Side to side differences I'd be worried about though Why do you ask this ? is there a problem ?

e30plz 1 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 It's easy as, save some $'s and do it yourself.
pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 if you went to a garage you would probably pay around $45 or 30 min labour. Easy to do yourself if you like to play with cars, jack up rear of vehicle with the wheels just on the ground, unbolt both bottom shock bolts, jack the car up some more. put your foot on top of the wheel and push it down while you pull the spring out and replace them, lower car down until the shock lines up with the hole and bolt it back up. Shady 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Someone got a guide how to do it? I can do it, and Im a n00b big time (when I first done it). Its just one big bolt to undo then push the rear hub down as far as you can & the spring will come out (factory springs may need compressors) but lowering springs go straight back in if you push the rear arm down hard enough. Takes me 10mins MAX per spring by myself and that includes taking the wheel off & putting it on.
e30plz 1 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Never tried front springs tho, are they easy too?

Guest FrantiC Report post Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Never tried front springs tho, are they easy too? Easy, if you have done it before. Way more work involved though. And fair enough, Probably don't wanna get your hands dirty eh? Edited October 14, 2009 by FrantiC

antony 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Im sure one of the Christchurch guys could give you a hand? I can when I'm over next (unsure when that is though, not over nearly as much as I used to be).
laadeelaa 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Louis - if you don't wanna do it, put up a message, offering a box to whoever is kind enough to help you out. You boys do anything for a box (alcohol, not a vagina in this case). Good luck. Edited October 15, 2009 by MS BM
oscar90 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 rear springs are easy as said above afew times, just DIY, you and a mate should be able to look at it and figure it out easy. if you can change a wheel you can change a rear spring in a E30 pretty much haha sort of on topic also and may be of use to OP For any CHCH guys wanting spring compressors i have some, people are more than welcome to use, just basic attach a ratchet and crank them sort, better than buying some if your never gonna use them again, also have some drive on "servicing ramps" if they're wanted, jack and axel stands aswell too depending if theyre in use or not lol
antil33t 90 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 also have some drive on "servicing ramps" if they're wanted Best things anyone that works on cars alot could own. unless they can afford a pit or a lift
