bmw325i 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Fabric paint in a can - legend. Doooooo it! What:DUPLI-COLOUR FLAT BLACK VINYL/FABRIC PAINT Where: Repco $: $17.99 How much: 1 spray can How much will you need to do a sexy purple tray: Half of 1 can How many coats should you do: 3 coats How should I coat it: One semi-thorough coat to start, covering all areas of the tray (Top only obviously), Then wait 5-10 minutes and spray the final two coats at that interval and not too close or it will blotch and come out stripey. Tips: -Warm weather is always better for painting anything -DO NOT hold the can horizontal or the float will run out and cut a long story short will come out all blotchy. Hope this helps anyone. anyone at all. Cheers... Edited October 17, 2009 by -ISLE69-

bellicose 9 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 The 'fabric in a can' always looks stripey to me. I buy fabric dye in 1-4lt tins and use a spray gun with the fan wide open, no more stripes.........yes i know not everyone has a compressor and sprayguns lol. greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 I don't know where you two got 'fabric in a can' because he said 'fabric paint in a can. If you get back far enough with the normal spray can you can do it alright without having noticable stripes.

This is the same way i do the black ~ fadded to grey e30 ones. Generally come out pretty good aslong as there not too faded or sun warped to begin with but for the price its well worth doing. Looks a whole load fresher
bmw325i 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 You dont get stripes if you hold the can at the right distance and do several light coats

greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Jase mentioned in the other thread he used dupli-colour flatt black. Repco at about $17. I use VHT Satin black vinyl and fabric dye which I used to to my door cards and now my parcel shelf and I assume it will have the same result. VHT is $15, savings are negligible.
