Lucan 196 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Hey guys, There may be a thread somewere about common problems of the E39. But couldnt find anything too specific. I'm considering upgrading my lil 316i and will be checking out a couple of reasonably priced 540i's over the weekend. What are the common problem area's i should be looking for? It would be nice to have them all checked out by my mechanic but before that... So after doing a visual and test drive what else should i be concentrating on and looking for?? Cooling systems are prone for failing, however there is so much that could be wrong or in needing repair depending on whether the car has been maintained properly.
