Hi! and help with Rolling guards

Hi everyone, im new to bimmersport. My names Sascha and ive had my e30 325i manual for about 2 and a half years now.

Finally got round to replacing the chromes :puke: with some 16x8 0 offset gun metal grey wheels . So i bought the wheels, and got my guards rolled at mag and turbo today but they still rub almost non stop!!

Any tips on what to do about that? ways to bend the guard out to make it fit? is it even possible?

Any help appreciated!

Sounds like some Sportmax rims in that size and offset.

What i found out today is that there are 2 skins in the rear wheel arch, the inner skin is obviously hollow and it goes from the top of the lip forward and can prob be hammered in a good 10-15mm (if thats where it is rubbing)?

Go back to where you got the guards rolled. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act the retailer has to remedy the problem. If they refuse to demand your money back because the job has not been done properly.The offset of the rims does not really help either.

My E30 had Sportmaxx wheels on them 15 x 8 (0 offset) and camber plates installed which remedied the tyre being too far out from the guard (205/50).

Go back to the shop and see what they can do, by right you have to get them to remedy it - just get them to roll them a little more. How low are the current springs in your car? My car was running 3-4 deg camber in order to get the tyre inside the guard, looks cool but handled like sh*t. So I binned the camber plates and brought better offset (ET15) wheels. A 60mm front and 40mm rear spring is imo the best fit for a lowered e30 from what I have gathered.

If you give your current tyre specs also it will help greatly.

Good luck with getting it sorted out, there are a few people with more knowledge than me on here aka Zenetti, but there are plenty of people that can help.

Just out of interest, are the wheels the same as these?

Profile information indicates its a 1989 so facelift model Nathan.

I have some 15x8 et12 wheels and they used to rub, the car was lowered a good 40mm. As Blair said i just worked with that lip inside the guard and the rubbing was mostly gone after.

Yup the wheels are sportmax!

I did take it back and complain, but the guy said he's rolled the guards as far as they go, its my fault for having 0 offset rims (coulda told me that before i got it done for $90!) . I also rang another panelbeater who does it for $60 a guard, he said that the guys probably telling the truth.

Tyres that are on it are 205/45, the guy at mag and turbo said stretched 195/45s might help a bit too.

And yeah it is lowered, im thinking i might just get some not-so-low rears.

I have pics of it how it was a few weeks back, ill put some up. Changes since the pics are smoked indicators, black grill and the wheels, ill try take some new pics when the weathers nice!!

Did you specifically ask for those rims or did they tell you they would fit without any problems? I know the rim you are talking about, it is very cool, however if they told you the rims would fit then you have every right to tell them to fix the problem properly.

Do you know if all four rub or just the fronts? this happend to me, i have 235/35/20's on the rears and 225/30/20's on the fronts, no more rub.

Think ill just have to raise it. Can anyone tell me what lowness jamex springs mine would be? they were in when i got the car, and all i know is that they are jamex, but if i was to get some higher springs id have to know what mine are

Jamex springs come in a 40mm and 60mm drop, im guessing you have the 60mm drop ones, thats what i have in mine.

That would be great if i have the 60mm, cause then ill just fit some 40mm in the back and it should be sweet.

Jamex springs are cheap and nasty and prone for sagging.

Youd be better off having a phone chat with Suspension Tech or H&R Springs

i spoke to a dude what works at jamex when i got my springs and they come with a lifetime warranty that they wont sag...

I had jamex's once upon a time. Way too soft and they sagged for me especially in the front.

King springs are way way stiffer.

^ Nah I sold them to another member, a few places do them mainly overseas. A few of the suspension fan boys can point you in the right direction.
