TYRES rubbing

Recommended Posts

OK I've another problem, I have 235/40ZR/17 all the way round. Last WOF they failed me because the front tyres rub on chassis when on full lock. Any suggestions

(serious one's at least) And no I don't want to get rid of the mags. cheers

That odd they rub, what is the wheel offset??

Go see BMW, in the ETK there is a steering stop that you can buy (optional part for E36's fitted with Msport 17"wheels & suspension), I think they are ~$60.

They reduce your turning circle, but not rubbage.

i had that problem with my E36 with 17'' mags .. but the wof place said it didn't matter because you'd never have the car in full lock while at speed ...

Ok i was looking at the E36 before, and noticed that the grey skirt part sticks it from the inner wheel arch. If you want (but i wouldn't recommend) cut part of the skirting off if it rubs on that. I don't know about it, maybe if a person who knows about these things will read about this and say nah WTF are you on about Emma?

Ah well its worth a try :D

Testing station was it?

Those guys are harsh.

They failed me for heaps of little things, got my mum to take it down 30 mins later and it passed, go figure...

By how much does it hit the chassis?

Could you fabricate spacers to fit between the mags and discs, and if needed longer wheel studs to match?... would be hidden from old farts eyes at a testing station picking on you cos they missed out the night before.
