e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 I need the part number for the cover piece that fits across the back of the engine bay. It is only found on e30 m3's AFAIK and joins up with the loom covers you get on m40 powered e30's and m3's. But 318i have the battery there so they don't have this cover. Anyways, as seen in the pictures bellow against the back of the battery tray, if someone with an e30 m3 or someone who knows is able to nab me the part number. Couldn't for the life of me find it on RealOEM. I tryed asking Stuck, cos the 1st photo is from his s52 e30, for it but he said look on RealOEM under m3 which i did...but it's not in the same diagrams as the loom cover. e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Yeah I know that part, That one is easy to find. I mean the part that continues on against the rear of the battery tray. Bottem left on top photo. And next to the expansion bottle on the m3 picture. Weird how it isn't on the same diagram.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) If its the same as an M325I one with the battery in the boot...I should have one No its different I think this is the part number. The picture in ETK is a bit vague though. I'm sure this is it. Might pay to ask an M3 owner to remove his and check the number. It will be on the part somewhere This is the number I come up with # 12 52 1 284 465 Edited December 16, 2009 by *Glenn*
e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 If its the same as an M325I one with the battery in the boot...I should have one They didn't come on m325i's or any of the 6's (none of that engine loom cover trim part did). Only the 1st part which Bravo linked is found on m40/m42 318i/318is' and the end piece across the back of the battery tray is an m3 part.

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Just checked with BMW. that number I gave you is possibly wrong. We cant help without a chassis# or part # of another car because the ETK for older cars is quite vague.

e30ftw 410 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Yeah tricky lil piece.. It should be in the same as the wiring cover bits, it shows the rest in that diagram again too. Seems weird they put it under 'Vehicle trim > External trim / grills'.
bravo 35 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 The bmwfans.info catalog is the same as the real oem one. It's easier to use, but is occaisionally down. Tada!
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 ETK can be a real bitch at times with the older cars, especially if you don't have a chassis# to go on
