Botany Motor Worx

Long story short:

At the beginning of this month I bought an E36 M325i from an Auction Centre subject to a mechanical inspection (arranged by the dealer). The inspection done showed minor problems and I was satisfied that it was repairable through a good service so I paid the money and took the car.

After dropping the vehicle with Glenn it became apparent that the car wasn't in very good condition at all! Evidence pointed towards the engine being overheated as well as numerous other things that would fail a warrant.

Glenn basically said the car wasn't worth servicing as it would most probably give huge problems later on which would be very costly $$$. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear but I agreed.

It is at this point that I'd like to give Glenn and his team a massive thanks for going well out of their way to help me. I will be forever grateful.

Glenn put me in touch with a P.I. who instructed me on how to go about getting my money back. It turned out to be a stressful 2-week task but fortunately, in the end, a successful one. I would like to go into specifics but think it would be better if I didn't.

Here are some pics of the car:

I have since bought a E36 318is that I got Glenn to inspect before purchasing which I'm very happy with.

Thanks again to Glenn & team @ Botany Motor Worx!

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year, I look forward to seeing you in 2010!

Cliff

Shame its a pig with a nice coat on.

Looks good but this proves that an inspection by a renown BMW service agent is worth the money.

What a shame about the 325, it looked good as well.

Glenn helped me to decide what to do with my old car as well, and I'm glad I took it to him when I did. Thanks a lot for everything this year!

Yeah thanks to Glenn and the team.

He's helped me out twice with stuff that a woman can't do herself with a diagosis.

Good to know someone still has a good heart to fix up every other "professionals" muck ups.

Hi Cliff,

I saw your 325 at Glenns and he told me of your problems.

If you don't know, I am a car dealer, and Glenn told me who you brought the car from and what you paid for it.

This is a lesson we can all learn from.

First point, check out the dealer, make sure he is trustworthy. You brought from a Tender and Auction Centre. That should have rung bells because as you now know by buying from these sort of dealers you get no warranty and you are not covered by the Consumers Gaurantees Act.

Secondly, the car was very cheap. You don't get a bargain from a dealer. They know the true value of everything they sell, and if they are selling a vehicle at well below it's market value, then there must be something wrong with it.

I am glad that Glenn was able to sort the problems out for you and that you now have a vehicle that you are happy with. I can't reiterate the importance of a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified specialist, especially when you are buying a European or non run-of-the-mill vehicle. Even I took an E36 M3 Evo that I wanted to buy into Glenn for a pre-purchase, and as a result, I walked away from it.

It's great that you were able to get a refund and have been able to purchase a vehicle that you are happy with.

And thanks Glenn for helping as much as you have.

Massive thanks again Glenn for helping me sort that windscreen wiper in the pouring rain. Was terrified I'd have to pull apart the dashboard or engine bay to sort it, was luckily only one nut that was loose.
