M3

Recommended Posts

WOuld it be worth buying it, and taking everything out and sticking it in, say, my car?

No, because then you would ruin a good M3.

They are rare enough as it is, without people butchering them, besides would the work and cost involved be worth the additional 30 odd horsepower.

Cheers

I have sent them a big email with a number of questions.

I am interested in it, just means I will get an M3 about 2 years before I planned and basically leave it parked somewhere until 2007 and it can be registered...but it saves on the importing etc from the USA (which is the current plan).

Cheers

LHD sux.

Only way you'll get an unbutchered E30 M3.

All of the RHD ones in New Zealand have been converted using the 325i steering rack, which is no way as good as the M3 rack.

Cheers

LHD doesnt actually make that much of a difference....just a lil bit of getting used to and then its just fun

But you get get one that been converted to RHD and replace 325 rack with E36 M3 rack?

All E30 M3's are LHD right? So there would be no RHD e30 M3 racks?

Brakes are also 325i units.

Grant, play on playa, i'm a car trade and 5K too short. Bummer.

I know you, being old and all, hate the bling shiny bits, so dibs on the wheels? Not like you'll need them till 2008!

The M3 has done 78,000kms and was imported from Japan (and is euro spec and not USA Spec...which is a goodthing). It also has the sports dogleg gearbox.

I am undecided if I will pursue it any further, I have been reminded (quite rightly too) that we have a wedding to pay for, and also we need to start saving for our big OE to the USA.

Cheers

And you also run the risk that the LTSA changes the rules in the next three years and your now stuck with a un-registerable car.

The obvious solution is to contact the very next M3 owner who writes their car off, and do some dodgy welding, but you may end up waiting for ever.

But at $20k, it may be worth the risk.

agreed - they look kinda 5 lug to me. Why would the brakes need to change?

only in terms of the booster & associated linkages!!!

At the wheels they are the same as LHD M3's

Do I need to bash you again Sparkle???

Admittedly though weddings are a chick thing, if only they realised the financial side of it, the two couples I know that are on their 2nd marriages have both had low key cheaper 2nd weddings. Was reassuring when one of the girls told my mrs that weddings are a waste of money, hopefully it sinks into her.

$20k on a car which is only semi useful??? IMO the body kit is the only decent part, your better off with a m325.

bash me again?!?!? when was the first time  haha wtf!

u've got one thing right tho bro, wats the use in spendin $$ on a wedding when you could have a equally good one at a small old church. If i ever get married my reception is going to consist of a BBQ, Best man cooking.

Wedding budget = $100 (includes $50 meat pack)

Think carefully, do you mean, semi useful, because the car is undriveable, or that you think M3's are only semi useful?
