joshnz 2 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 Cheers mate. Anyone who is floating around ... would an E36 diff fit in a E30? they look identical pretty much in size and mount points etc
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 never seen an E36 but from what ive been told the E36 one has two mounting points on it while the E30 has one. Except the E36 compact which essentially has the same rear end as E30. Someone more knowledgable will confirm or otherwise though

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 shouldn't you be looking at getting a medium case diff for a e30 325i not a small case one. also you can get a medium case diff from a e28 and swap over the back plate to fit it into a e30 .

You need the E30 output shafts as well if you do the swap, or you can use med case E34 output shafts, they're the same as the E30.

I wouldn't have a clue Brent, looking for a quick solution so I don't have to use the mrs terrible car to get to work and back, car pooling is not an option here lol. Would rather get something I can chuck straight in there and go

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) I'm pretty sure I've still got a 3.64 : 1 here...I'll have a look Edit: Yes I have... I've had the back off this one...all good inside and I've also put new side seals in it and new diff oil. Was going to use it in the Ti before I changed the ratio and put the LSD in. Its a medium case diff. $250...its yours Edited March 4, 2010 by *Glenn*
