e36 Stereo Code

Hey guys,

I have had my battery disconnected recently. When I turn the stereo on now it wants a code before I can use it.

Is there anywhere in the car where I would find this code? Otherwise I will have to pay for the code from the dealer with my serial number

What make model stereo?

I know of at least 3 different types for the E36

One of which I can generate a code for

Pop the head unit out and give me the make & serial # and I'll see if I can get it for you

Do it before Friday... I'm off to Surfers saturday morning

BTW: when you pop out the head unit you might find someone has written the code on the unit

The code might be in the manual for the car. The first place I would have looked but just checking!

I don't have a code generator for that model

But I don't think it has a code... but my memory is failling me...

it has one lol, Unless im wrong when it says CODE and wont play music when i turn it on?

I couldn't get the code from BMW.. we got it from BMW Ag (Germany) this arvo

On the subject of radio codes, if i contacted the dealer down here would they be able to get the code for mine based on my vin number ??. Or do i have to take everything apart to find the radios serial number.

Its not written down anywhere i can see on any of the manual's that came with the car and that includes the one for the radio, then again i cannot read Japanese.

they should do they might ask you for proof of ownership
