_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) my swap is 95% finished now. just have exhaust to be fabbed and the following issue to be solved and shes done i have no spark or fuel and is more than likely because of the EWS. can anyone who knows or runs an OBD2 in E30 confirm the ECU needs to be realigned? the ECU and EWS and chip are all from the same car which was running when it was removed so no issue with hardware in itself. anyone in welly know where it can be done? Jeff Gray BMW? independent shop? thanks in advance! soooo close it hurts! Edited March 29, 2010 by ethrty320

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) If the DME, EWS & chip are from the same car and are for a M52B28 running Seimens system it shouldnt need realigning. You may have a wiring fault with these components for it not to work. No spark & no injector pulse would signify an EWS fault or crankshaft position sensor fault. Is the diagnostic plug still wired into the car ? Edited March 30, 2010 by *Glenn*
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 yup its all siemens and for an M52B28. diagnostic port is still present but i dont have a scanner to get the codes. may be able to organise something though. will check over the CPS but the engine ran fine when removed so it should be fine. thanks for the suggestions
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 Have you wired in the reader coil and attached the chip to it ??
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 As glenn said its probably just a wiring fault. The best way is to get some diagnostic software onto it and scan the fault codes, they will tell you if your ECU is even on, your EWS and key is functioning properly (also make sure you have the key / chip around the reader coil properly) That happened to us last week until we scanned it and found the EWS complaining about the key not being availible. Once your scan comes back clean then your looking at other things at play. Ill PM you something so you can understand EWS better.
