crazyarab 6 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Well as some know, planning to take the 340i to the drag strip this Sunday to compete in the "Import vs V8" event being held at Ruapuna. Just looking for some expert tips and tricks to maximize my times on the day. Things I have done / plan to do: - Remove the high beam light to allow proper air flow to the CAI - Remove front and rear seats to lose some weight - Use 15" rims on the back with 205/50 rubber - Set rear tire pressure to 15psi - Have some spare concrete bags ready to chuck in the boot (in case I can't get traction) - Mounted a radiator overflow tank (due to regulations) Things that would be awesome but doubt will be able to do - Get some semi / full slicks - Adjust the suspension damper to have as much give as possible (Sam says it's a bit of a mission) Keen to get any further advice on what I could do / what I should probably not do. Any tip on launch technique for those in the know. Cheers Edited April 16, 2010 by crazyarab
dirtydoogle 383 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 80-100kg weight loss will usually give you 1/10th of a second, perfecting your launch and shifting is more likely to give you a result. Try being smooth off the line at first. What type of light set up are you using? Most of all have fun

dirtydoogle 383 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 Not sure what you mean?As below =P Orange Orange Orange Green. Go on the third orange if you're a noob, and you should get some pretty good reaction times. Yes, wear sunnies if that is the case and watch for the third orange to fade, then away you go. Our driver does this each time, if you freeze frame some of his videos you see the butterflies on top of the blower opening just before the light =D It helps that he has a low stall converter too. sp8s 1 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) IF you are up at a "christmas tree" (the lights) just creep forward until the second WHITE light shines which lets you a of leeway on your launch (staging deep) which means a better chance of not 'redlighting' and you can go on the LAST yellow. Practice Practice Practice. You WILL WIN most of your races on reaction time. I got mine down to .005 of a second. If you have someone available when practicing have them stand in front of you counting down on their fingers - like stand there with 4 fingers up then lower one at a time so you can get used to counting down in your head. IF you get what I mean here you can find your own way of doing this. Edited because of the Bourbon lol Edited April 16, 2010 by sp8s
