E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 I propose there be a "register" formed that lists peoples accomplishments. ie. List top 10 (proven): 1/4 mile times Horsepower Best Lap times (at Manfield, Taupo & Pukekohe??) Top Speed (offical speed trial, not a$$-clowns down the motorway!!) etc... What do ya think?? Carl 3 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 I'm all for this, bloody good idea Glenn, i'm sure there's some good forums/sites we can porn it off... Perhaps we could even then implement this as part of the "Members Only" idea that everyone loves to discuss and cream over... I'm just really liking the fact that my car currently has a theoretical top end of 307kph :pimp:
Guest Spargo Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Pissing comp = The win. Glenn, its probably you for most of them anyway! OT: Carl and Glenn, i'll be in welly for next weekend, keen for a jar?
Carl 3 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Pissing comp = The win. Glenn, its probably you for most of them anyway! OT: Carl and Glenn, i'll be in welly for next weekend, keen for a jar? In regards to the top speed, someone find a massive stretch of private road and lets get serial!!!Would open up a can of worms though in regards to how to group cars by engine capacity, with charger multipliers of course...intermarque rates chargers as 1.7x multiplier and rotaries with 1.8x multiplier OT: Pornstar weekend is in order me thinks, Tim, you want to come down too since you're the resident meet slut? Sudo 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) Yeah, this could be a good idea, maybe different for each class, Top Speed E30, Top Speed E36, etc etc Have a chart/table for each class, same for 1/4 mile, Edited February 23, 2005 by Sudo
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) carl there aint a road long enough for your car to get to 307,air resistance would stop it at the same speed/revs as any other 320........now we need a long long road for my 535 to top out at 236 or so.........we should talk to steve and hugh to see if we can hold a sprint somewhere,we used to hold one over the wairarapa in the m,cycle club but we need a longer run for our cars to top out...hmmmmmm Any one know someone at Ohakea air base????? Edited February 23, 2005 by kiwi535
CaM 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) yea ohakea would be sweet for that sorta thing, not like they use it for anything worthwhile anymore...... somebody needs to know the base commander, hmm as for the register thing, i reckon it's not needed, as has been said previously, make a car domain page or something, make a sticky in the rides board and post the link.... easier and andrew doesn't have to come up with more hosting space. toyspeed has a profiles page with this sorta sh*t Edited February 23, 2005 by CaM
bravo 35 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 All for it, but as said - maybe if there is somewhere else on the web with this kind of feature, we could bludge a space there. Also, who would be the adjudicator - i.e. who would verify claims?
E30stz 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) seeing as my car has got no-hope of winning a quartermile - why not do it in reverse (I'm sure ® really means racing) - make this a closer competition ! Edited February 23, 2005 by E30stz

cainchapman 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Sweet! 164kW (@ wheels, Performance Car Dyno day) and the time around Hoonapuna is around 1min 55sec Lap timing is no problem for me at any track except Taupo (the only one we don't have a loop for) I'm going to come down for an Intermarque sprint meeting (to watch, I think) sometime soon. I'll leave the company car and bring the 540.
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Highest Dyno reading I've seen within the Club is Monty's E39 M5 @ 219kW at the wheels. They had to let it cool down after a few runs (the dyno, not the car)
Gus 5 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 of course glenn has to start a thread like this doesnt he.......sweet idea hopefully more than 90kW and less than 16 sex!

I won't be able to make the first intermarque sprint (Rally commitments) I'll be ready & rearing to go for the May one though!!
martyyn 2 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 of course glenn has to start a thread like this doesnt he.......sweet idea Are we going to draw the line at standard Bimmer's though ?I dont know if we should be allowing any 'hybrids' I wouldnt mind seeing if I can hit the 155mph limit on mine...Ive done 135 but ran out of road rather quickly at that point :drugs:
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Yes, on a rolling road. I don't know that they read lower than Dynapak (hydraulic) dynos. They (rolling road) just have greater inertial mass and don't give such accurate and responsive readings. Next time I'm at Meremere, I'm going to keep accelerating and see what I can get on the runoff. Yes, if we can find somewhere safe enough. I'd love to see if the limiter is fitted to my car too. In theory, I should be changing out of 5th gear at 235kph. I'll go to the next Pukekohe meet and see what we can squeeze out there, but it's slower now than when the old GP circuit was being run. I've hit 270kph in Tess then. The new bends bugger up your approach to the straight now. :banghead:
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) i reckon for our beamers we would need at least 3 ks 1 k run up,flying kilometre and then 1 k to stop....do you reckoncain you would be accellerating in 6th,i get the feeling that with a 3.6 diff the 535 would need 5th,but withhe high diff in your car sixth is almost an overdrive?????Course the big wide grill on your car makes for more drag, not like the nice tidy grills onthe aearly e 34's.Keep in touch re the intermarque Edited February 23, 2005 by kiwi535

I've had the E30 off the clock (+140mph), they aren't very stable at that speed I might add!! Definitely not something to try in a uncontrolled environment!!
