e36 Auto Shift 3rd gear or other issue?

Have anyone here faced that issue where sometimes the bimmer keeps reeving and wont go outta 2nd or 3rd gear? but when you put it to neutral and back at gear (D) it works?

I have also faced that "engine check light" 3rd gear lock down problem a few times. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? greatly appreciated.

Yes... every day...get it professionaly checked by a BMW specialist or dealer

Hey, Really ..?? well, how do you go about's sorting it out? Do you do what I do, neutral then D ? have you taken to a Dealer or a BMW Specialist ? what causes this error ?

hey are the prices for manual gearbox or an auto? I hope its not the whole gearbox since it shifts perfectly, seems more like some electronic problem ...

could just be the valve body or tcu (transmition control unit)

have it scanned might give the code for either fault it could save you some pennies, if not then go for a replacement box
