E34 Whine

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, hope someone can help me

I have a 1990 E34 525i Manual, for the last 2 days ive been hearing a whine coming from the engine, can be heard the loudest closer to the driver side. Sounds like a cat lol but it whines on acceleration and when i push the clutch i can hear it winding down and then back up when i accelerate with the clutch engages again.

It was only a temporary thing but now is almost there 100% of the time

Hope its not major, i dont know if it is from inside the engine itself, maybe the gearbox? Not too sure so hopefully you guys do. Thanks for the help!

Take your wife/gf/partner/babe out of the passenger seat ;)

But seriously, are you sure it isn't the gearbox? Maybe a fluid level check is needed.

Try checking your power steering fluid level.... it may be low, if it is you'll have a leak somewhere
