Wazza07 3 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 Hi I have a car with no spark and no power to the fuel pump. The other weird thing is the park lights go continuiously. Have cleaned all the fuses relays and all other connections. Not sure where to check if there is power to the ECU. I haven't removed the distributor (a pain to do) as I figure the problem is before it. Any suggestions much apreciated.
BM WORLD 1286 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 has it had or has it got a alarm hooked up or been disconected ???
Wazza07 3 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 has it had or has it got a alarm hooked up or been disconected ???It had one Brent but the previous owner said it was disconnected before it was put in storage. Then again he did say that it was removed because it kept going off when the battery went flat. I would have thought that they would reconnect the wires where the imobiliser would be joined in but maybe the just ripped it out.
isis 16 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 You bought that dogleg E24?! Nice!!
BM WORLD 1286 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 its probably not disconected they just cut the wires to the siren . thats why the lights are on its still active etc . you shoudl be able to just rejoin the wires under the dash where they cut into them in most cases . heavy green wire is ignition power , red wire is battery power , black with yellow strip is starter wire , purple is radio etc

Wazza07 3 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Hey thanks everyone I will give it a go tomorrow but have a sparkie booked for Monday if I'm not successfull. Yes it is the dogleg that was in a barn for 12 years off Trademe. I was only looking for a gearbox for my E9! Apart fron rust in the front guards the E24 is in pretty good nick. Oh well looks like I have a pair of coupes now.

Wazza07 3 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) All go now so thanks to all for the help. It was a faulty main relay, bridged the two 87 terminals and away it went. A $10 part was all that was stopping it from going. Not a bit of smoke from it and I'm surprised at how smoothly it runs.
